Overview


Based at our UK office in Crewe, Cheshire the Event Technology Specialist is responsible for delivering accurate and reliable timing & measurement systems for sporting competitions, including major athletics events. This is a fantastic opportunity to join the Seiko team on a full time permanent contract.

This role involves the setup, operation, and maintenance of timing equipment, ensuring precision in live environments, and supporting event delivery through technical expertise and troubleshooting as well as working closely with other event stakeholders.

This role will involve extensive overseas travel .

Key responsibilities



Undertake the preparation, testing, installation, calibration and configuration of Seiko's systems prior to major events, including unloading equipment, rigging network infrastructure, calibrating systems, and performing pre-event checks. Take a role leading a team of technicians at events acting as a central point of focus for any queries and offering support to troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues. Ensure accurate capture, processing and output of all competition timing and results in line with governing regulations. Liaising with competition officials, volunteers, athletes, Staff and other key stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of services. Efficient and safe de-rigging and load-out of equipment post event. Completing any fault or escalation reports post event and following through to ensure resolution. ? Assist in planning and executing hardware and software upgrades on systems between events to optimise performance. Work with development teams on specifying operational and user requirements for new and enhanced system features and testing features when delivered.

Ideal experience



Experience installing, calibrating and operating electronic timing and / or graphics systems e.g. Local Positioning Systems, Athlete tracking, Photo Finish. Possess strong IT and networking expertise across a range of systems, with proficiency in Microsoft platforms A People Person; comfortable dealing with event officials, volunteers and athletes as well as other technical providers. Experience delivering technical services at major sporting events. A quick learner with exceptional problem-solving skills. Flexible to unusual working patterns, willing and able to travel internationally.

Good to have....



Good working knowledge of World Athletics regulations concerning track and Out of Stadium disciplines. Specific expertise in one or more of the following: Electronic Start, Finish and timing systems, Local Positioning Systems, GPS or camera-based athlete tracking systems, Photo Finish systems.

Pay range and compensation package



30,000-40,000pa
