JOB DESCRIPTION FOR INDUSTRIAL STAFF

Electrician - Special Events

Primary Functions: An exciting opportunity has arisen to work alongside frontline law enforcement operations installing temporary Electrical Equipment to support our contract with The Metropolitan Police Service. deploy and collect equipment and traffic management signage To cover major events within central london such as The National Festival of Rememerance and Notting Hill Carnival. You will be required to participate in a call-out system and cover some out of hours work paid at an enhanced rate.This is a very physical role. On a unique contract.

Reporting to: Supervisor.

Qualifications: Relevent IEE 18th Edition cert

Health and Safety: Have a responsibility for personal H&S and that of other

employees and people that you have contact with during the course

of your duties.

Responsible for: Vehicle checks.

Tools.

Installation and Maintenance work

Prompt return of information as required, i.e. work sheets,

time sheets etc.

This is not meant as an exhaustive list and a flexible multiskilled approach by

all staff is required.

Main duties:

  • General Maintenance and fabrication within our workshop to assist other functions within Special Events as required
  • Installing temporary electrical installations lighting power at events via various sized Generators
  • Deployment and collection of all traffic management equipment and the errection of tempory signs to street furniture.
  • Delivery, deployment, operation and retrieval of equipment such as tents, generators, lighting etc to locations as required.
  • Maintenance of various electricial appliances/equipment
  • Assisting other trades in duties associated with work within the Mitie MPS contract.
  • Have an obligation to undertake training, to learn additional techniques and to instruct others on aspects and features of his/her work.
  • Assist in the traffic management projects
  • Undertake loading / unloading of lorries
  • Assist other trade persons in the team
  • Produce clear and concise written reports, company forms, time sheets and submit in a timely manner.
  • Identify any defects found to the Operations Supervisor or Contract Manager and provide parts list and estimated timescales to complete the defects.
  • Attend site and carry out reactive tasks and emergency call outs as instructed by the supervising team.
  • Ensure your daily duties are in accordance with all current Health & Safety Regulations.
  • Complete usage sheets for all materials used.
  • Maintain the professional image of Mitie at all times.
  • Establish and maintain a good working relationship with all Mitie employees and clients\' representatives.
  • Ensure the provision of a Safe and Healthy working environment.
  • To be part of our out of hours on call rota.
  • Adhere to company policies on all Health & Safety and Environmental Health guidelines.
  • Adhere to company policies, on standards, codes of conduct, COSHH, and current government legislation. (Engineers are updated on a regular basis).
  • Communicate regularly with all Supervisory and Management staff and specialist subcontractors to ensure Mitie provision is achieved at all times.
  • Accountable to the Operations Supervisor/ Contract Manager.
  • Treat with care all company property issued to you or on a pool use basis
  • Willingness to undertake all training required for work tasks relating to contract needs
  • Pass and Maintain MPS CTC security clearance
  • Ability to communicate with people at all levels.
  • Be a team player with a flexible and adaptable approach willing to undertake the other service elements within the Special Events Contract
  • Have a sound understanding of current company and legislative Health and Safety, Environmental Impacts and Risk Assessment procedures.
  • Be able to provide both summarised and detailed reports, on current operations department activities when requested to do so.
  • Have a good basic education, with good written and spoken English and basic mathematical skills.
  • Full, clean UK Driving License
Essential Experience Required
  • Physically fit
  • Drive vehicles up to 3.5 ton
  • Understanding of technical drawings & plans
  • Knowledge of London Road
  • General fixing and repair
  • Knowledge & ability of lone working requirements.
Desirable Experience Required
  • Experience of site and workshop environments
  • Risk Assessment and Method Statement trained.
  • Competent in controls
  • Able to work outside discipline.
Person
  • Able to work under pressure.
  • Must be willing to work overtime hours
  • Must be physically fit and able to carry tools and equipment by hand up to 20kg.
  • Able to ascend/descend vertical access equipment.
  • Able to work at height.
  • Committed to the delivery of excellent customer service.
  • Must be flexible regarding working hours.
  • Must be available to join a call out rota.
  • Assist other members of the team
