Job Description

The Nevis Centre, Fort William is seeking a dynamic and highly organised?Events Manager?to lead the implementation, planning and delivery of a diverse programme of events in a vital community venue for Lochaber. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional to take ownership of conferences, live performances, community events, exhibitions and private hires, ensuring every event runs smoothly from initial enquiry through to successful delivery. You will be the key point of contact for clients, performers and partners, representing the Nevis Centre with professionalism and enthusiasm.



The Events Manager is responsible for the full planning, coordination, delivery, and

evaluation of all events held at the Nevis Centre, incorporating full financial oversight of

each event such as preparing quotes, managing event budgets, and monitoring financial

performance.

This includes concerts, music events, theatre productions, conferences, community

bookings, commercial hires, and internal centre-led events.

The Events Manager ensures that every event is delivered safely, professionally, and

efficiently, while managing the impact of major events on the Centre's community

programme and regular hirers through reasonable planning, communication, and

scheduling.

The role requires excellent organisational skills, strong communication, and the ability to

work with touring companies, agents, promoters, community groups, and internal teams.

The Events Manager leads on event-day operations, liaising with technical staff, hospitality

teams, front-of-house teams, and the General Manager to ensure seamless delivery.

Working within the charitable purpose of The Nevis Centre, the Events Manager ensures

activities contribute positively to community wellbeing and access.

Key Responsibilities



Event Programming and Planning



Develop a balanced annual events programme including music, theatre, comedy, dance,
community showcases, conferences, and commercial hires.

Plan and deliver major entertainment events alongside regular community use, ensuring
effective scheduling, communication, and operational coordination with community groups,

clubs, long-term hirers, and public-access programmes.

Liaise with promoters, artists, production companies, speakers, and organisers regarding
dates, fees, technical needs, staffing, marketing, and audience management.

Produce event plans, critical paths, and detailed schedules for all events. Coordinate internal approvals, contracting, and negotiation of terms.

Operational Event Delivery



Plan and deliver all event logistics including room layouts, staging, seating plans, event
flow, entry management, FOH needs, interval planning, and performer requirements.

Liaise with performers and production teams to confirm requirements and act as the main
point of contact on the day of the event.

Coordinate with the Centre Technician for all technical requirements: sound, lighting, AV,
staging, equipment hires.

Liaise with hospitality services, bars, and catering support are fully prepared for event
demand.

Supervise FOH staff, stewards, volunteer teams, and event assistants. Resolve issues quickly and ensure high-quality audience experience.

Safety, Licencing and Compliance



Ensure all events comply with health & safety, fire regulations, licensing law, capacity
limits, and risk assessments.

Produce event-specific RAMS (Risk Assessment & Method Statements). Manage crowd control, emergency procedures, and staff briefings. Oversee safeguarding and safe working practices for in-house events, and work with
incoming acts and external event organisers to ensure appropriate safeguarding and health

& safety arrangements are in place in accordance with Centre requirements.

Finance, Budgeting and Administration



Prepare event budgets, monitor expenditure, track ticket sales, and ensure profitability
targets are met.

Oversee ticketing systems, sales reporting, allocations, concessions, and box office
procedures

Liaise with the finance function on event invoices, purchase orders, contracts, and
settlement of costs.

Evaluate event performance and produce reports for the General Manager.

Marketing, Sales and Audience Development



Provide accurate and timely event information to support the development of marketing
materials, social media content, and advertising.

Contribute insight to audience engagement initiatives by sharing event data, audience
feedback, and operational considerations.

Support marketing activity by liaising with local press, online platforms, community
groups, and tourism partners as required.

Promote the charity mission during engagement and ensure public benefit messaging.

Team Leadership and Internal Collaboration



Lead and schedule event staff including FOH, stewards, ticketing staff, and technical
teams.

Coordinate with hospitality and cafe/bar teams to ensure adequate staffing and stock for
events.

Work closely with the Family & Community Manager to avoid scheduling clashes with
community activities.

Support the General Manager with cross-centre operations when required.

GDPR and Data Compliance



Work with the marketing function to support GDPR-compliant handling of ticketing data,
mailing lists, performer information, contracts, and customer records.

Maintain secure management of sensitive information and digital files.

Charity Promotion and Public Engagement



Ensure events reflect and support Linnhe Leisure's charitable aims. Encourage accessible programming, community involvement, and cultural engagement. Promote community wellbeing through inclusive and diverse event offerings.

Additional Responsibilities



Attend meetings, planning sessions, training, and partnership events. Support other departments during peak periods or major centre-wide events. Undertake any additional duties appropriate to the role and operational needs of the
Centre.

Provide operational support during Duty Manager cover when required, ensuring smooth
venue operations and customer service.

Person Specification



Essential Qualifications



Event management qualification or equivalent relevant experience. Evidence of professional development in events, venues, safety, or production.

Desirable Qualification



Technical theatre or production training. Health & Safety, licensing, or crowd management certification. Safeguarding training (Level 2+).

Essential Experience



Experience delivering concerts, live performances, festivals, theatre, or large-scale public
events.

Experience working with promoters, artists, agents, and touring crews. Experience planning events from concept to delivery. Experience managing budgets, ticketing, and financial reporting. Experience ensuring compliance with safety, safeguarding, or licensing requirements. Experience supervising staff or volunteers during events.

Desirable Experience



Experience in a multi-use venue or community facility Experience working within a charity or public sector environment. Experience coordinating events that involve children, families, or vulnerable groups.

Essential Skills and Abilities



Strong organisational and planning skills. Ability to manage multiple events simultaneously. Excellent communication and negotiation skills. Strong understanding of event safety, safeguarding, and GDPR. Ability to lead teams confidently during live events. Strong IT skills including ticketing systems, spreadsheets, and scheduling tools. Basic technical skills in sound, lighting, or AV.

Desirable Skills and Abilities



Marketing and promotional planning skills. Ability to design creative event concepts or thematic programming.
