The University of Oxford is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Events Manager to join the Innovation & Engagement team in Research Services. This role is a unique opportunity to support a University-led flagship initiative that is driving innovation-led growth across Oxfordshire. The postholder will lead the planning and delivery of a strategic programme of high-profile events that elevate the region's profile as a globally leading innovation hub.

About the Role


The Oxfordshire Strategic Innovation Taskforce (OSIT) is a major collaborative initiative led by the University of Oxford's Vice-Chancellor to unlock and accelerate regionally anchored, nationally significant growth.
Over the course of the next two years, OSIT will deliver a programme of high-profile engagements, communications and events to accelerate investment, unlock infrastructure development, attract corporate partners, and support inclusive innovation across local communities. A landmark public launch event in November 2025 will be supported by a national and international communications campaign to elevate the visibility and ambition of the programme.

The Events Manager will lead the delivery of OSIT's events programme, managing logistics, communications, budgets and stakeholder relationships across a portfolio of activities. You will work closely with University teams and external partners to ensure events reflect OSIT's strategic goals, reinforce its brand and values, and help position Oxfordshire as a world-class innovation destination.

About You


You will have significant experience in event management within a large or devolved organisation, with the confidence and judgement to deliver multiple projects to a high standard. You must bring to the role excellent planning, coordination and communication skills, and a collaborative approach that enables you to work effectively with senior stakeholders within the University and externally.

You will be calm under pressure, able to problem-solve and adapt quickly, bringing a proactive and professional approach to your work. A proven ability to deliver in a fast-paced, agile 'projects'-based environment, managing multiple concurrent initiatives across a range of stakeholder groups is needed for this role.
This role requires you to have the confidence to work independently, proactively and flexibly. We expect the postholder to take initiative, set priorities, and exercise good judgment in an organised and responsible manner.

Competence in using digital tools for event management and communications is a must, as is excellent interpersonal and communication skills for working with a range of stakeholders. Experience in marketing or promoting events to target audiences would be an advantage.

The post is based within the

Innovation and Engagement

Directorate which provides support for a wide range of Innovation and Engagement activities across the University, including IP management and commercialisation, enterprise and entrepreneurship, public engagement with research, engagement and partnerships with the public, private and third sectors, and the development of Oxford's innovation ecosystem.
