Wivenhoe House is a beautiful 18th-century, 4-star hotel situated near the picturesque quayside village of Wivenhoe and just minutes from Britain's oldest recorded town, Colchester. The hotel features 40 individually designed bedrooms, a range of flexible event spaces including the Garden Suite (accommodating up to 120 guests), and the 80-cover Park Brasserie.
We are also proud to be home to the Edge Hotel School, where students studying for degrees in hospitality gain hands-on experience and one-to-one mentoring alongside industry professionals.
The Role
We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Events Sous Chef to join our talented kitchen team. You'll be part of a brigade of chefs but will also work independently when delivering bespoke food operations for our events business. From corporate lunches and gala dinners to weddings and private parties, this role demands creativity, attention to detail, and an understanding of exceptional service delivery.
While your primary focus will be the events kitchen, you'll also support the brasserie kitchen when required, ensuring a consistent and high-quality food experience throughout the hotel.
If you are ambitious, proactive, passionate about fresh, locally sourced ingredients, and have a flair for events catering, we'd love to hear from you. Knowledge of allergens, dietary requirements, menu pricing, and a willingness to lead and mentor others will be key to success in this role.
This is an exciting opportunity for a chef ready to take the next step in their career within a supportive and inspiring environment.
