Full and paid training is provided for this post - no prior experience is necessary but is welcomed.
Henley-in-Arden School is looking to welcome an Exam Invigilators into school. Invigilators work as part of a team to help the Exams Officer run mock exams for year groups 10 to 11 during the school year, and external (GCSE) examinations in the summer term.
Many of our current invigilators live locally and work part-time or are semi-retired, so that they are able to accommodate working flexibly. If you are interested in this role, you will not be able to invigilate examinations for your own child but you can support the school with invigilation of other year groups.
The hours are from 8.00am to 12/12.30pm for morning exams and 12.30pm - 3.00pm for afternoon exams (dependant on the exam). Additional hours to support the preparation for exams and completing training are available.
Invigilators are paid 12.65 per hour (plus holiday pay) for the hours they are in school. The hours are variable.
Successful exam invigilators are able to:
remain calm when a problem arises and help the Exams Officer create a solution;
politely and firmly enforce the rules and regulations for external examinations;
be mindful that examinations can cause anxiety and be supportive of our students whilst still ensuring the rules are carefully followed.
There are key times in the academic year when examinations take place, it may help to know when these are before considering this post:
Year 11 mocks - 2 weeks during December
Year 11 2nd mocks - during the spring term
Year 10 mocks - 2 weeks after the Easter holidays
External examinations: from mid-May to the end of June
You do not need to be available for all of these dates, but it is important that you are able to invigilate during the main external examinations. We ask for availability from every invigilator prior to each set of exams/mocks and create a staffing plan to accommodate everyone's availability. Please note that the dates do change slightly year on year, so these are approximate.
No previous experience is required as full training is provided. Personal attributes that are useful include:
ability to communicate effectively
ability to follow instructions and processes
ability to commit to start and finish times of the exams
Please see the and Person Specification for full information.
Arden Multi Academy Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all its staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We welcome applications regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, sexuality or religion. The successful applicant will be required to undertake an Enhanced DBS Disclosure and, in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education, will be subject to a social media online search.
