5T Operator

to deliver high-quality

external works

on major construction projects. This role is ideal for a

Skilled 5T Operator

who is confident working to tight tolerances, understands services, and takes pride in finishing works.

Key Responsibilities - 5T Operator (External Works)

Operate a

5T Excavator

safely and efficiently in line with site and company procedures Carry out

external works

including drainage, foundations, services, and finishing works Excavate

strip foundations, service trenches, and drainage runs

accurately to line and level Work confidently with

trench boxes, drag boxes, manhole boxes, and trench sheets

, including lifting operations Complete

fine grading and finishing works

, including:

+ Type 1
+ Road formation
+ Topsoil and final trim
Read and interpret drawings, setting-out information, and levels Work closely with engineers, foremen, and groundworks gangs Obtain and comply with

dig permits

before excavation Work safely around

live services

, demonstrating strong service avoidance awareness Carry out

daily pre-start checks

, inspections, and defect reporting Maintain the

5T machine

through routine greasing, cleaning, and basic maintenance Take ownership of the

5T excavator

, maintaining a high standard of care and presentation Adapt to changing site priorities while supporting programme delivery

Desirable Experience & Tickets - 5T Operator

CPCS or NPORS 360 Excavator (above & below 10T) with Lifting Ops

5+ years' experience

operating a

5T Excavator

in groundworks or civil engineering Strong experience in

external works and services

GPS / machine control experience (Trimble, Leica, or similar) advantageous Additional CPCS/NPORS tickets:

Dumper, Roller, Telehandler

SSSTS or willingness to work towards

General Expectations - 5T Operator

Reliable, punctual, and safety-focused Works well within groundworks gangs and with site management High attention to detail and quality finishing Right to work in the UK
