Job Description

We are seeking to recruit an Executive Director of Nursing, Quality, Women and Family to join the Powys Teaching Health Board, who can demonstrate strong strategic and clinical leadership.



In this Executive Director role, you will be the professional lead for nursing, midwifery, and allied health professionals, and you will have executive-level responsibility for the quality and safety of care across the Health Board. A key part of your portfolio includes leadership of Women and Family Health , including maternity and children's services--areas where compassion, evidence-based care, and partnership with families are critical.



We are looking for a transformational leader with broad and deep experience of delivering high-impact, strategic change across complex systems. You will be a champion for person-centred care, equity, and empowerment--of patients, families, and staff alike. Your ability to work collaboratively across systems, lead cultural change, and deliver outcomes that matter will be crucial to our continued success.



The Director of Nursing, Quality, Women and Family Health is a key statutory post with responsibility for high level clinical leadership, management, direction and, professional advice to the Board, complying with legislation. The post-holder ensures the highest possible quality and range of healthcare provision within available resources, sustaining a patient/public centred approach through all services and staff (for directly provided and multi-faceted commissioned services).



The post-holder is the executive lead for corporate nursing, women's, children's and family services. They are the professional accountable officer for nurses and midwives and the lead for professional standards. The post holder is an Executive Director and a voting Board Member, who is expected to contribute to all aspects of the work of the Health Board, accepting shared accountability for the achievement of the Health Boards strategic and operational objectives, whilst setting and exemplifying values, behaviours and standards.



This includes budget responsibility for a budget of 13m and professional responsibility for the direct management of around 220 staff across the corporate nursing and family services functions, as well as professional responsibility for all nursing and midwifery staff
