Job summary




The Exhibitions Manager role is based within the Visitor Experience and Customer Services team which ensures that Senedd visitors have the best possible experience of our venues both on the estate and online.


The Exhibitions Manager works closely with all areas of the Service to deliver our strategic vision for increasing engagement and participation with the Senedd through exhibitions.

The Exhibitions Manager is responsible for organising temporary and semi-permanent exhibitions which showcase Welsh excellence and educate about the work of the Senedd. The programme of exhibitions reflects the Senedd's responsibilities and priorities and include partnerships with key national organisations as well as projects developed with Welsh communities.


The role includes project managing and providing expertise when designing and developing a cohesive visitor journey on the estate, through the introduction of temporary and semi-permanent exhibitions and visitor displays.


All exhibitions, both Member Sponsored and led by the Senedd Commission are curated to reinforce the Senedd's identity as a visitor destination, as well as linking to the work of the Senedd.

Job description



Support the Head of Visitor Experience and Customer Services in setting the strategic direction of the exhibitions programme in line with the Comms and Engagement Strategy. Organise a programme of physical and digital exhibitions (Senedd led and Member sponsored) that reflect the aims and purposes of the different spaces and supports the Communications and Engagement Strategy. Develop effective relationships with key external partners, networks in Wales, across the UK and around the world. Liaise with internal stakeholders and external contractors to deliver projects. Liaise directly with, and advise, the Private Office on Senedd led exhibitions and Llywydd's involvement. Manage all governance aspects of exhibitions including budgets and developing contracts, licenses, and insurances for temporary exhibitions and artefacts. Develop and maintain knowledge and understanding of innovative exhibitions and interpretation concepts. Produce copy for different channels to promote exhibitions on the estate. Develop and manage booking processes to ensure the best customer service. Liaise with external exhibition organisers, Members and their support staff to manage all aspects of Member sponsored exhibitions on the estate. Interpreting and adding value to Members' causes. Ensure the implementation of the Communications and Engagement Strategy through exhibitions and temporary displays and that key audiences identified in the Strategy are targeted through them. Directly line manage and lead the exhibitions team. Create visitor displays that are engaging, tell visitors who represents them and how they can engage with the Senedd. Use new displays to engage with new audiences. Gather insights to inform and continually improve exhibitions services, and to provide valuable information on emerging issues to the Head of Visitor Experience and Curator. ###

Person specification



Demonstrable experience of working with internal and external partners to develop and deliver exhibitions and displays. Experience of supporting the strategic development of an exhibitions programme, including building relationships with other national organisations. Experience of developing engaging content for visitors across several channels. Excellent organisational and time management skills to deliver multiple projects at the same time.
