Job Description

Barker & Bland Ltd are looking to recruit an experienced 360 operator, to work as part of our specialist peatland restoration project team, working on upland bogs throughout the Scottish Highlands.

Restoration includes grading, re-profiling and re-turfing of exposed peat, drain blocking and bunding. Experience of working on a peatbog or within agriculture/land management is an advantage but not essential. You will be expected to record your work using GIS, which involves walking the ground. You will be fully engaged in the promotion of safety on site.

Barker & Bland Ltd are leading specialist peatland restoration contractors working on peatlands across the UK to aid the recovery of damaged peatlands and tackle climate change. Peatlands make-up around 12% of the UK and when in good condition store significant amounts of carbon, as well as providing a quarter of the UK's drinking water and being rich in rare and endangered plants and animals. We use innovative techniques and machinery specifically adapted for working in the challenging environments found on upland blanket bogs and lowland mire across the UK. We aim to restore the bog from within the bog, carrying out our restoration projects with minimal carbon cost.

Requirements:

Self Employed Work rotation 11 days on (3 days off) Full, clean driving license CPCS / NPORS 360 above and below 10 tonnes essential

While our head offices are based in Penrith, we are a national contractor regularly working in the Scottish Highlands - all applicants must be willing to work away for 11 day stints.
