Position Overview:
We are currently looking for an experienced Bricklayer to join our team
ASAP
at our project site located in Wigan, WN1. The successful candidate will support the construction of a 3-storey new build block of 9 flats, two additional 3-storey extensions to the existing building, bricking up the structural openings and assist with repointing the building elevations. This role requires a skilled professional with a solid background in bricklaying and a strong eye for detail and quality workmanship.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
Lay bricks, concrete blocks, and other masonry materials to construct and repair walls, partitions, arches, chimneys, and structural frameworks.
Interpret and follow blueprints, drawings, and construction plans to determine layout, materials, and dimensions.
Measure, cut, and shape bricks and other materials using hand and power tools to ensure precise alignment and fit.
Mix and apply mortar or adhesives using trowels and related tools, ensuring joints are filled and finished to standard.
Ensure all structures are level, plumb, and properly aligned using levels, string lines, and plumb bobs.
Repoint existing brickwork and replace damaged or defective bricks where required, maintaining the structural integrity of the build.
Clean and maintain tools, equipment, and work areas to uphold site cleanliness and operational readiness.
Adhere to all site safety protocols and company procedures to ensure a safe and compliant working environment.
Skills, Experience, and Qualifications
Proficiency in bricklaying techniques
Competence in using hand tools and power tools effectively
Strong attention to detail with a commitment to high-quality finishes.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Own tools and equipment required for the job.
Reliable transport and a valid driver's license (preferred).
Compensation and Benefits
Payment Options:
Quoted price work for the entire project (preferred).
Alternatively, an hourly rate of 20.00 - 22.00 per hour, based on experience and skillset
Hours:
40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
