Job Overview


We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Bookkeeper to head up our finance operations for a small group of companies. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in bookkeeping and accounting, with proficiency in various accounting software. This role is crucial for maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. The Senior Bookkeeper will work closely with management to provide financial insights and support strategic decision-making.

The role is a hybrid role and can be carried out on a flexible schedule do suit your needs/life/work either at out St Mellons offices or home or a mix of the 2 given our bookkeeping operations are online. That said you do need to be Cardiff/Newport/South Wales based to attend meetings, paperwork etc.

Duties



Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using accounting software such as quickbooks for a small group of companies Manage accounts payable, ensuring timely processing of invoices and payments. Prepare monthly financial statements and reports for management review. Reconcile bank statements and monitor cash flow to ensure financial stability. Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes, providing insights based on historical data. Collaborate with external auditors during the annual audit process, providing necessary documentation and support. Ensure compliance with tax regulations and assist in the preparation of tax returns. Provide guidance and training to junior bookkeeping staff as needed.

Qualifications



Proven experience in a senior role as finance manager or senior bookkeeper or in a similar accounting role. Proficiency in accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, or similar platforms. Strong understanding of accounts payable processes and general accounting principles. Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively within deadlines. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to liaise effectively with team members and stakeholders. AAT qualification or equivalent is desirable but not essential.
