We're looking for an skilled and motivated floor layer to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with a range of flooring types, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship on every project.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare subfloors and surfaces for installation (levelling, trimming, and smoothing as required)
- Install and lay various flooring materials (laminate, vinyl, engineered wood, solid wood, ceramic tiles, carpet, etc.)
- Execute intricate cutting, joinery, and fitting to achieve seamless results
- Adhere to manufacturer's guidelines, industry standards, and building regulations
- Use appropriate tools and machinery safely and efficiently
- Measure, cut, and fit flooring to clients' rooms with accuracy
- Perform subfloor repairs, moisture testing, and acclimation where needed
- Protect finished work, maintain a clean workspace, and manage waste responsibly
- Communicate with clients and team members, providing clear progress updates
- Participate in site surveys, risk assessments, and quality control checks
Requirements
- Proven experience as a floor layer with a strong portfolio of completed projects
- Proficiency with multiple flooring types and installation techniques
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Knowledge of subfloor preparation, moisture barriers, and underlay systems
- Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach
- Good physical fitness; able to kneel, bend, lift, and work in varying conditions
- Reliable transportation and a valid driving license (preferred)
- NVQ/City & Guilds or equivalent flooring qualifications preferred
- CSCS card or willingness to obtain (where applicable)
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations (COSHH, PPE, risk assessments)

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: 14.10-20.69 per hour
