TheraParent Fostering is small independent fostering agency. We are a family owned and managed fostering service with therapeutic parenting at the core of all that we do. We are an enthusiastic and passionate team who highly values the incredible work foster parents do, therefore we believe in offering high levels of support and nurture to our families.
Our office is based in Waterlooville, Hampshire and we mainly serve Hampshire, Dorset and surrounding areas. Our team is made of professionals with extensive experience in fostering alongside personal experience of fostering too. We have lived the role of the foster parent for many years, and we use this experience to enhance the way we work with foster parents, drawing on our experience both professionally and personally. As a relatively new fostering agency, we are looking to continue to recruit new foster parents who are able to offer homes to children and young people which are therapeutically informed. Our team all have therapeutic training, and we offer therapeutic coaching and support to all foster parents and the children they care for.
To support us in building our team of foster parents, we need to recruit a robust, diverse, and experienced fostering panel. TheraParent Fostering is therefore expanding its Central List of panel members who are recruited to sit on our fostering panels. We are therefore looking to recruit experienced Panel Members to join our central list. We are specifically looking for individuals who have experience of fostering (or working with children who are Looked After) whether that be as a care experienced adult, current or previous foster parents, Social Workers (with at least 3 years post-qualifying experience), health professionals, education professionals or any other professional with appropriate skills and experience. All successful applicants must be IT literate as we work mainly electronically. Panel paperwork is sent via our secure online platform.
We perform most of our fostering panels face-to-face, therefore travel to Waterlooville must be agreed by all successful applicants. There may be times that we opt for a virtual panel therefore experience of using Microsoft Teams would also be of benefit.
The role of the fostering panel is to provide independent scrutiny of the agency in regard to the assessment, approval and review of foster parents.
The responsibilities of a panel member include:
To read the Form F assessment or Annual Review paperwork carefully before the meeting, identifying any areas of concern, areas of strength, and questions which need to be answered in the consideration of the Applicants suitability to foster or to continue fostering. To also ensure close reading of panel minutes after panel meetings, to ensure accuracy.
To attend the panel meeting prepared to raise issues within the group and to confidently contribute to the panel discussion.
To take responsibility for participating in the making of a recommendation, on each case, drawing on both personal and professional knowledge and experience.
To attend meetings of the panel as specified in your agreement with TheraParent Fostering.

All panel members joining us should share our expectation of kindness and consideration for colleagues and be able to work effectively in a team. We require applicants who are effective communicators and listeners.
We are committed to Safer Recruitment to ensure that only people who are safe to work in this position of responsibility are recruited to do so. All appointments will therefore be subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
