Experienced Herdsperson And Farm Worker

Shropshire, United Kingdom

Job Description

Be part of a dynamic, growing team at our beautiful Walford campus. We have a prosperous milk herd which has successfully moved from an indoor AYR system to a grass-based Autumn block calving system. We continually work to improve the farm and our agriculture curriculum.
As a college farm we have good access to additional training, specialists and farm networking. The farm includes a commercial herd of approximately 200 dairy cows, a small sheep flock, grazing platforms and a surrounding estate and woodland. We have invested in additional health monitoring and breeding systems with new farm infrastructure to support this move. We are looking for the right person to help our farm flourish. There are excellent opportunities for progression and training at the College. We have a well-staffed farm and curriculum team and the college actively promotes staff development and ongoing training.
We are looking for an immediate start for the right person. On-site accommodation is available with this role.
A comprehensive package of employee benefits is in place including holiday entitlement of 25 days (increasing to 30 days) plus 5 college closure days and 8 bank holidays, eligibility to join the Local Government Pension Scheme with excellent financial contributions by the College and pension death in service grant of 3 x salary, generous occupational sickness, maternity, paternity, and shared parental leave pay schemes.
The College also provides a high number of free on-site parking spaces, access to a range of free CPD events, professional qualifications and recreational courses, eye care voucher scheme, cycle-to-work scheme, volunteering scheme, wellbeing support, and access to competitively priced food outlets.
HLNSC is committed to safeguarding and promotes the welfare of all learners and expects all staff to share this commitment. North Shropshire College is a Disability Confident Employer.
