Summary

McKnight Builders is seeking a skilled and reliable

Bricklayer's Labourer

to join their team. The successful candidate will support bricklayers on construction sites, ensuring efficient workflow, safe operations, and high standards of workmanship. This role is ideal for someone with a strong work ethic, relevant site experience, and the flexibility to handle a variety of physical tasks.

Responsibilities

Assist bricklayers

in the preparation, laying, and finishing of bricks, blocks, and stone for various construction projects, including residential, commercial, and civil engineering works.

Prepare and move materials

(bricks, mortar, sand, etc.) around the site, ensuring tradespeople have what they need when they need it.

Mix mortar

and other materials to the correct consistency and maintain clean, organized work areas.

Operate a telehandler

to transport materials safely and efficiently around site; relevant experience is essential.

Maintain tools and equipment

, reporting any faults or shortages to supervisors.

Adhere to health and safety regulations

at all times, contributing to a safe working environment for the entire team.

Assist with general site duties

including tidying, waste removal, and site security as required.

Liaise with site management

and other trades to ensure smooth project progression.

Requirements

Substantial experience as a bricklayer's labourer or in a similar construction support role.

Valid UK driving licence

- required for on-site mobility and potentially for transporting materials between sites. Telehandler certificate/experience - must be able to operate a telehandler competently and safely. Physical fitness - ability to handle heavy materials, work at height, and endure demanding site conditions. Reliability and teamwork - punctual, conscientious, and able to work effectively as part of a team. Knowledge of construction processes - familiarity with bricklaying operations and site safety practices.

Desirable Skills:

Basic bricklaying skills

- while not essential, some hands-on experience with bricklaying is advantageous.

First Aid certification

CSCS card

(Construction Skills Certification Scheme) or willingness to obtain one.

Working Conditions:
