Experienced Lead Marine Engineer (gosport, Hampshire Full Time)
Job Description
We are currently looking for a Lead Marine Engineer to join our expanding team of dedicated craftsmen.
Vortec Marine are a leading independent yacht refit, repair and maintenance service centre providing high-quality service and workmanship with an experienced team consisting of shipwrights; joiners; marine engineers and riggers. Vortec are equipped to cover all manner of works from annual maintenance through to full refit accommodating vessels measuring up to 40m.
Main Responsibilities
Perform diagnostics and repair of all types of marine engines and transmissions / drives / generators
Perform mechanical repair work such as: - engine removal, servicing, fitting.
Overhaul or replace engine components such as blowers, generators, distributors, starters, pumps, electrical and fuel systems .
Rebuilds
Rewire ignition system, lights and instrument panel
install and repair accessories such as radios, heaters, waste systems, and electronic equipment.
- Be the go-to person for the engineering team, mentoring and coaching fellow engineers
- Oversee the smooth and efficient running of the Engineering team ensuring high productivity and adherence to guidelines.
- Communicate with your team regarding any issues that are slowing job progress.
- Reporting and liaising with Works Manager particularly relating to target hours
The ideal candidate will have the following skills:
Experience of working in the luxury yacht industry preferable.
Attention to detail and a methodical approach to tasks.
Good team player and excellent communicator.
Understanding of quality processes.
Ability to listen, understand & follow instructions.
