Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist with knowledge in the management of patients with a Palliative Care diagnosis.



You will be expected to work as part of the Specialist Palliative Care team to deliver high quality, evidence based occupational therapy intervention to individuals who are experiencing functional difficulties in line with life limiting disease.

Applications are invited from occupational therapists with demonstrable experience in palliative care and a broad knowledge of clinical specialities, who are interested in working as part of an occupational therapy service which actively supports professional development and is committed to excellent patient care and service improvement.



The post holder will be expected to travel across Carmarthenshire and at times the Health Board footprint to visit patients at home and between sites and undertake service development. Mileage allowance is payable and a lease car scheme is available.

You will have a buddy the first few weeks as part of your induction into our occupational therapy team, their will be formal supervision monthly, as well as informal when required. You will have a Personal Development appraisal once a year to support learning and development. Hywel Dda offers a wide range of learning within its own trust. There are options for flexible working and part time.



We have pool cars if required, and mileage expenses for travelling to patients homes.



As an Occupational Therapy service, we recognise that our staff are our strongest asset and investment into the individual as a person as much as their professional development is important. The pandemic has taught us more than ever the importance of work life balance and we encourage remote working when appropriate and flexible working arrangements.



The post holder will be required to participate in the provision of a flexible 7 day service, based on service need. This will be on a rota basis.



The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.



Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.
