We are a small, dedicated team of practitioners working across two fully equipped, specialist Sensory Integration (SI) clinics. Based in the South West, we provide therapeutic services for children, young people, and families, with a strong focus on supporting those affected by early trauma. Our team brings together Occupational Therapists, a Specialist Therapeutic Practitioner and an ADI team who deliver a range of creative, innovative, and carefully designed assessment and intervention packages.
We specialise in working with children who experience differences related to sensory processing, emotional regulation, trauma, and coordination, delivering compassionate, evidence-based care to promote lasting change.
About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and skilled
Paediatric Occupational Therapist
to join our team. This is a part-time or full-time position for a professional committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of children and young people through a
Sensory Integration

approach.
You will work with children and young people who experience a range of sensory processing and developmental differences, including those who are previously looked after or have experienced trauma. You will also engage parents and caregivers in dyadic work to promote sustainable, long-term progress.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
Design and implement individualised treatment programmes in clinic
Use
bottom-up sensory integration principles
to support emotional regulation and engagement in daily life
Work dyadically with parents and young people to foster
secure attachment patterns
and long-lasting change
Support young people with difficulties in areas such as:
Gross and fine motor skills
Communication and social interaction
Behavioural presentations linked to sensory differences
Neurodivergence
Implement techniques including the
Zones of Regulation
, and promote
visual perception
,
body awareness
, and
functional independence
Liaise with schools, families, and other professionals to ensure a cohesive and integrated approach
Train parents and school staff in the use of therapy strategies and equipment
Sensory audits
Administrative & Professional Duties
Maintain accurate records and write professional reports, including EHCP reports
Attend and contribute to reviews and multi-agency meetings
Manage caseload and prioritise effectively
Access regular clinical supervision
Work within the ethical and professional standards of the
Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT)
Participate in ongoing professional development, including safeguarding and health & safety training
Essential Requirements
Degree in Occupational Therapy
HCPC registration
Postgraduate training in Sensory Integration (minimum Module 1)
Experience working with young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
A genuine interest in working with children affected by adoption, trauma, and attachment challenges
Proven ability to work dyadically with children and their parents or caregivers to promote sustained change
Confident in delivering trauma-informed, sensory-integrative, and bottom-up therapeutic approaches
Familiarity with a range of general paediatric assessment tools, such as the Movement ABC, VMI, and BOT
Desirable
Strong understanding of attachment theory and how sensory strategies can support emotional regulation and relationships
Completion of Sensory Attachment Intervention (SAI) Level 1
Completion of the CAPA
A genuine interest in working with children affected by adoption, trauma, and attachment challenges
Experience working with previously looked-after children and an understanding of their emotional and developmental needs

Post graduate training in Sensory Integration to SI Module level 1, 2, 3 or 4.

Do you have Knowledge of the National Curriculum and Statutory requirement of IEPs and EHCPs.
Ability to demonstrate effective management of clinical caseload of children with special educational needs.
Ability to provide effective occupational therapy assessments and interventions relevant to children with communication, learning difficulties and sensory needs
Excellent planning and organisational skills.
Familiarity and skill using IT systems - mainly excel and word
