Derma Reading is a busy, CQC-registered private dermatology clinic and we are seeking an
experienced Practice Manager
to take overall responsibility for the operational, people and compliance management of the clinic.
This is a
senior, hands-on leadership role
suited to someone who has previously managed a healthcare or regulated clinical environment and is confident overseeing day-to-day operations, regulatory compliance, staff management and patient experience in a high-demand setting.
The Practice Manager acts as the central point of coordination between patients, clinicians, administrative staff, external partners and the Management Team, playing a key role in the continued development and success of the practice.
This role is not an entry-level position and is not suitable for candidates without prior healthcare management experience.

Key responsibilities
Practice operations
Oversee daily clinic operations, ensuring smooth patient flow and efficient use of resources
Monitor stock levels, equipment maintenance, servicing schedules and supplier relationships
Resolve patient concerns or complaints professionally and in a timely manner
Develop, implement and continuously improve clinic systems, policies and procedures
Plan, organise and chair staff and management meetings
Staff management
Lead, support and motivate the administrative team
Plan, coordinate and monitor staff activities to ensure excellent service delivery
Manage staff appraisals, training, welfare, health & safety, discipline and grievance procedures
Support recruitment, interviewing and onboarding of clinical and administrative staff
Foster a positive, professional workplace culture with high standards and accountability
Compliance and quality assurance
Maintain accurate, confidential and secure patient records
Conduct regular audits and risk assessments, implementing corrective actions as required
Ensure staff receive appropriate compliance and health & safety training, with records maintained
Investigate, record and report accidents or incidents in line with regulatory requirements
Management team involvement
Work closely with the Directors, Lead Nurse and Finance Manager as part of the Management Team
Support planning and implementation of changes to meet internal and external demands
Provide management information, statistics and reports as required
Support promotional activity, patient engagement initiatives and reputation management, including monitoring online reviews
Essential experience, skills and qualities
Essential
Minimum 3-5 years' experience
in a Practice Manager or senior operational management role
Previous experience within a healthcare or regulated clinical environment
Proven responsibility for
CQC compliance
, audits and inspections
Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills
Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Professional, calm and approachable manner
Ability to manage confidential information with discretion
Proactive, solutions-focused mindset with strong attention to detail

Experience in
private healthcare
Dermatology, outpatient or surgical clinic experience
Experience supporting clinic growth or service development
Working arrangements
Full-time, 40 hours per week
Monday to Friday with occasional weekend work depending on clinic needs
