ALCO - Experienced Roofer Required

Do you have experience in constructing traditional slate tile or felt roofs? We are looking for a proactive and positive candidate to contribute to the success of our projects.

ALCO Roofing are currently seeking a skilled roofer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in building and maintaining roofs, with proficiency in various roofing techniques and materials. The candidate will need to repair, maintain and construct roofing for residential and sometimes commercial buildings. You will require a thorough knowledge of traditional roofing methods, including slate, tile, felt and lead. You must be well versed in use of correct equipment and material safely while working at a height. Roofer duties and responsibilities might include:

Duties:

Construct and repair roofs using materials such as slate, tiles, and felt.
Install roof structures ensuring they are watertight and secure.
Install roofline, fascia's soffits and gutters correctly.
Perform masonry work as needed for roof construction including chimney repointing.
Checking for weather damage.
Following health and safety rules, particularly regarding working at height.
Utilise hand tools and power tools effectively.
Interpret and work from schematics and drawings when required.
Carry out heavy lifting tasks related to roofing materials.
Ordering and restocking materials.
Overseeing apprentices and or improvers.

Responsibilities:

Perform roof installations, repairs, and maintenance tasks according to project specifications and safety guidelines.
Inspect roofs for damage, leaks, or other issues and provide accurate assessments and recommendations.
Measure and cut roofing materials to fit specific dimensions, ensuring precision and accuracy.
Collaborate with team members to complete projects on time and within budget.
Maintain a clean and organised work area, always adhering to ALCO safety protocols and regulations.
Communicate effectively with clients and team members, providing updates and addressing any concerns or questions.

Qualifications:

Proven experience as a roofer, with a minimum of 5 years in the field.
Extensive knowledge of roofing materials, techniques, and tools.
Ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Valid driver's license and own van.

Job Type:

Full time Monday to Friday with possible weekends.
Pay range 13.75 - 25 per hour depending on experience.
Monday to Friday and weekends when required.
On site - 20 mile radius of Godalming.
Immediate start.
Self-employed with scope for future employment for the right candidate.
Overtime as required.
Roofing experience: 5 years (preferred)
