Job Description

Lansglade Homes Limited currently have exciting opportunities for a full time experienced Senior Care Assistant to work day shifts.

The right candidate will be based in one of our Homes situated in Bedford, overseeing the running of the shift, supervising the team of staff and providing an excellent standard of person-centred care to our Elderly Residents, in a dignified manner.

Key Objectives of the Role



To lead, supervise and participate in the delivery of care to our residents.

To work effectively with others within the home to ensure that residents needs are met, whilst maintaining the highest possible levels of care.

To provide effective leadership for care staff through supervision, support and mentoring in all aspects of care.

To assist the home manager with the smooth running of the home and ensuring a person centred approach is maintained at all times.

Ensure appropriate and agreed staffing levels are maintained in liaison with the Home Manager.

You will respond to emergencies and provide guidance and support to the care team.

You will also take part in staff induction programmes as and when required and promote safe working practices.

To be responsible for the safe administration of medication.

To take on call duties as agreed with the Home Manager.

Main Roles and Responsibilities



Resident care and support.

To actively participate and supervise the delivery of care to residents to ensure that their physical, social, intellectual and emotional needs are met and ensuring dignity, choice, independence and respect.

Support and work closely with families and friends offering them professional and emotional support, sensitive to individual need.

Assist in the delivery of care for residents who are dying. Assist with last offices.

Closely monitor residents who may be confused and or who have behavioural problems.

Assist in the promotion of continence.

Complete written daily records as instructed and in line with company policy and procedures and assist carers to complete relevant documentation.

Be familiar with the administrative records of the Home and ensure all records are kept up to date.

Follow appropriate procedures in the event of emergencies, for example, accidents, fire, missing residents.

Monitor care staffs performance and report any concerns to the nurse on duty and or the Home Manager.

Answer the nurse call system, giving assistance as required. Answer the door and telephone appropriately. Respond accordingly, and pass on messages promptly.

Encourage residents to become involved in the home. Welcome and encourage their participation in activities so that they can participate and remain emotionally and intellectually stimulated.

Make visitors feel welcome. Provide refreshments and assistance as and when required.

Make and change beds, ensuring that rooms are clean and tidy, and commodes are empty.

Assist residents with meal times and offer assistance as necessary and be aware of swallowing difficulties and all dietary requirements.

Understand and ensure the implementation of the Home's Health and Safety, Infection Control and Hygiene policies, and Emergency and Fire procedures.

Report to the Home Manager, or the Maintenance Team any faulty appliances, damaged furniture, equipment or any potential hazard.

Contribute to the safeguarding of adults by ensuring you are aware of your role in relation to the company's Safeguarding Adults Policy, taking steps to protect residents from any form of abuse or neglect and use the appropriate reporting systems to inform the homes management of any concerns.

Ensure that the home is secure at all times whilst on duty.

General Requirements

To attend staff meetings when appropriate and be available for one to one sessions as agreed.

To attend appropriate training and development sessions as agreed with the Training and Home Managers

To maintain confidentiality at all times.

To carry out any reasonable duties as requested by the Home Manager.

Adhere to all company policies and procedures.

To be aware and comply with all aspects of Health and Safety Legislation and ensure others follow suit.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 12.50-13.20 per hour

Expected hours: 36 per week
