Our dedicated Projects and Energy Transition Team advises global corporates, financial institutions and governments operating in the sector on their most important and ground-breaking transactions. Our team is ranked Tier 1 by the most influential independent legal directories and is fully integrated with our disputes, tax, finance, competition, IP, IT, employment and pensions teams. We also specialise in the rail and renewable energy sectors.
The team handle transactions with both domestic and international content including large, multi-jurisdictional deals and assist with structuring transactions to accommodate different international regulatory requirements.
The successful candidate will also be part of an expert, dynamic, friendly and well-supported global community of Knowledge and Expertise specialists.
Reporting to
The expertise partner manages the team's expertise professionals. The expertise partner together with the expertise lawyers and executives are responsible for developing and implementing the practice's expertise plan.
Role overview
This is an extremely varied role working within one of the leading Projects legal teams in London. We are looking for an enthusiastic self-starter with an ability to prioritise and take the lead on knowhow projects or issues once instructions have been given.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Expertise Lawyers network and Partners in the Projects team to provide a wide range of knowhow support. Responsibilities will include:

  • organising and administering PET training - managing speakers, updating training schedules, storing and circulating training materials;
  • working with our central knowledge team to develop, implement and support knowledge management systems for the practice to facilitate knowledge sharing and ensure that fee earners have easy access to the knowhow they need;
  • play an active role in the testing and championing of new tools and technology to support fee earner work;
  • assisting with the preparation and publication of client briefings and internal knowhow, including researching legal and technical issues;
  • monitoring industry emails relating to ongoing regulatory and practical developments in a range of practice areas and summarising these for regular update emails;
  • acting as primary point of contact for the group for uploading and locating knowhow and template documents on our intranet;
  • acting as the main point of contact between the central Knowledge & Expertise team and the PET team. The role will also facilitate links to our Expertise professionals in other PET practices (e.g. the Middle East and Australia) to facilitate a more global approach to expertise in PET;
  • assisting with the update and maintenance of standard form documents;
  • assisting with the preparation of impactful and high-quality slides for internal and client presentations;
  • assisting team members in finding knowhow materials;
Essential skills and experience
Technical training will be provided on basic legal principles and the transactional structures used across the group. You will also need:
  • a degree (a law degree would be an advantage but is not essential);
  • an interest in the law;
  • the ability to be proactive and use your initiative;
  • the ability to work independently and take control of discrete tasks;
  • good organisational skills;
  • good attention to detail;
  • the ability to work well in a team;
  • problem solving skills
  • excellent communication skills;
  • to be technically adept at PowerPoint (or a willingness to upskill);
  • to demonstrate a willingness to embrace new technology; and
  • the ability to work to deadlines
