The External Contracts Manager is responsible for specifying, procuring, managing, and delivering a range of externally led contracts under Planned Works programmes. This includes overseeing multi-disciplinary projects across a wide geographical area to ensure statutory compliance and meet customer expectations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:



Develop and manage work programmes for cyclical compliance, ensuring alignment with financial and procurement regulations. Prepare comprehensive tender documentation covering scope, specification, and quality standards to ensure value for money. Use tendering or framework processes to procure contractors and apply appropriate contract types. Ensure all works comply with CDM regulations and Health & Safety standards. Progress work orders and contractor payments efficiently, maintaining strong financial oversight and monthly reporting. Monitor and control budgets and follow organisational financial policies. Conduct inspections to verify quality, compliance, and adherence to safety standards. Hold regular meetings with contractors, addressing performance issues and conflicts as necessary. Deliver high standards of customer care, resolving queries and complaints effectively. Collaborate with other business areas to support continuous improvement. Perform any other duties relevant to the role.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:



HNC qualification in a building-related discipline or relevant experience in a similar role. Understanding of statutory construction and housing regulations, such as CDM and Asbestos. Experience in creating, procuring, and managing building contracts. Strong project management, organisational, and planning skills. Proficiency in office software and familiarity with maintenance management tools. Commercial awareness with the ability to achieve best value. Full driving licence and access to a car with business insurance; willingness to travel as needed. Strong financial and analytical skills. Personal drive and ambition. Ability to demonstrate organisational values and behaviours.
