Job Summary:

As our

External Project Manager

, you will be the primary liaison responsible for the end-to-end delivery of complex

Data Center infrastructure projects

for our clients. This role requires an expert balance of client relationship management, detailed technical coordination, and rigorous adherence to project methodology (e.g., PRINCE2/PMP). You will lead cross-functional teams, manage vendor relationships, mitigate technical risks, and ensure all data center installations, migrations, or upgrades are completed on time, within budget, and to the client's specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

Client & Stakeholder Management:

Own the primary relationship with external clients, defining project scope, managing expectations, communicating progress, and securing necessary approvals from client stakeholders (IT, Finance, Operations).

Project Planning & Execution:

Define the entire project lifecycle for data center initiatives (e.g., cabinet installation, rack-and-stack, network cabling, power/cooling upgrades), utilizing project software to manage timelines, resources, and critical path activities.

Technical Coordination:

Collaborate directly with internal Engineering teams, third-party vendors, and data center facility staff to ensure technical requirements (power delivery, networking, security, environmental controls) are met and implemented accurately.

Risk & Change Management:

Proactively identify, track, and mitigate project risks (e.g., delivery delays, capacity constraints, security breaches). Manage all scope changes through a formal change request process to prevent schedule slippage.

Documentation & Handoff:

Oversee the completion of all project documentation, including runbooks, final inventory manifests, and close-out reports. Ensure successful final sign-off and operational handover to the client's IT support team.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related technical field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in technical project management, with at least 3 years directly managing

Data Center, Infrastructure, or IT build-out projects.

Expert-level proficiency

in project management methodologies and software (e.g., MS Project, Asana, Jira). Strong working knowledge of physical data center infrastructure, including power distribution, cooling principles, structured cabling standards, and server/network hardware. Proven ability to manage large, multi-vendor projects and control budgets greater than.

Certifications (Preferred):

Project Management Professional (PMP) or PRINCE2 Practitioner Certified Data Centre Professional (CDCP) or higher Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or CompTIA Network+ ITIL Foundation Certification (or equivalent service management framework)
