Contract: Initially a 1-Year Fixed Term (with review at 3 and 6 months) - potential for permanent role and progression
Salary: Starting at 28,000 per year (with pay review at 6 months)
About Us
We are a small but ambitious design and fabrication studio, creating high-end bespoke furniture and architectural pieces as well as a range of repeat designs. Our work focuses on mild steel with patinated finishes, but also includes wood, composites, and other materials. Every project is different, combining traditional craft with contemporary design.
Alongside fabrication, we also operate our own foundry and create custom composites in-house. You'll have the opportunity to learn specialist techniques such as metal casting and composite making. Our studio also collaborates with other craftspeople including ceramicists, woodworkers, and stonemasons, meaning you'll be exposed to a wide variety of materials and skill sets.
The Role
We are looking for an experienced MIG Welder / Fabricator to join our team. This role is not just about welding - you will be involved in the full making process, from cutting and fabrication through to patination, finishing, and working with other materials. Some projects are one-off bespoke commissions, while others are repeat production runs of our own designs. You will be expected to carry out all jobs within the workshop.
Because our work is highly specialised, even experienced applicants will need time, training, and close guidance to learn our way of working. We are looking for someone open to learning and able to take instruction, with the goal of becoming increasingly independent.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys taking ownership of their work and wants to grow into a position with more responsibility. With the right attitude and skills, you could quickly progress to a supervisory role, helping run the workshop and managing future staff.
