Main Purpose of the Job:



The Welder / Fabricator is responsible for manufacturing and assembling fabricated components and structures to a high standard, in line with engineering drawings, specifications and quality requirements. The role supports production activities by ensuring work is completed safely, accurately and efficiently, contributing to on-time delivery and customer satisfaction.

Key tasks:



Fabricate and weld mild steel and stainless steel components in accordance with engineering drawings and specifications Set up, adjust and operate fabrication and welding equipment to suit different materials and job requirements Carry out welding activities using appropriate techniques to meet quality and safety standards Comply with all Health & Safety requirements, including the correct use of PPE at all times Complete daily safety and operational checks on tools, equipment and machinery Carry out in-process and final quality checks to ensure work meets required standards Ensure all work is completed in line with established quality procedures and safe systems of work Plan and prioritise workload through effective communication with management and production teams Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment Assemble components accurately and efficiently, demonstrating strong manual dexterity Participate in in-house training, toolbox talks and competency sign-off processes Work collaboratively with colleagues and other departments to support production requirements Support departmental compliance with quality, Health & Safety and company standards Work in accordance with company operating procedures and guidelines Undertake other reasonable duties as requested by management

Skills, Knowledge and Behaviours



Competent in fabrication and welding techniques Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings Practical fault-finding and problem-solving skills Competent in the safe use of hand tools, including electrical grinders and drills Ability to work effectively as part of a skilled trade team Proactive, positive and safety-focused approach to work High level of attention to detail and commitment to quality Willingness to undertake training, including overhead crane operation (training provided)

Hours of Work



Monday to Thursday: 08:00 - 17:00 Friday: 08:00 - 16:30

Qualifications & Experience



Proven experience in a welding and fabrication role within a manufacturing or engineering environment Experience with MIG welding (TIG desirable) Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings Good understanding of workshop Health & Safety practices Relevant welding or fabrication qualification (e.g. NVQ / City & Guilds) Experience working with mild steel, stainless steel or aluminium Previous experience in machinery or equipment manufacture
