What you will do
We are currently looking to recruit a Fabricator/Welder for our Engineering maintenance team in Hartlepool. Within the role, you will perform the duties of a time served fabricator/welder to carry out the manufacture and refurbishment to plant, assemblies and equipment from our works production areas and ensure each item specification is met. The equipment on site is used to manufacture steel tubes ranging in size from 219mm to 508mm diameter. Your duties will include the use of a computer-based maintenance & stores system (SAP), isolation / making safe equipment, following prescribed preventative maintenance routines, responding to breakdown situations and apply continuous improvement techniques of work.
As a fabricator/ Welder you will be part of a small multi discipline team working on a 12 hour shift pattern of 2 days, 2 nights, 4 days off. You would start your role on a starting salary of 44,455 (including shift allowance) increasing to 48,830 (including shift allowance) upon demonstration of site specific competency. Each craft discipline are required to display flexibility in all trades and working arrangements.
What you will need
Essential Skills and Qualifications
Time-served, indentured Fabricator/Welder with NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering.
Proven experience working safely within a safe system of work, ideally with safety training (IOSH/NEBOSH advantageous).
Strong fabrication and welding skills, with experience in a range of materials and thicknesses.
Proficient in operating heavy fabrication equipment (e.g. rolls, bending/folding, shearing, drilling).
Good communication and teamwork skills, with experience in a quality-controlled environment (ISO 9001).
Desirable Skills
Welding certification to BS4872-1 and/or BS EN ISO 9606-1 (or equivalent).
Experience in heavy industry maintenance, preferably steel.
Familiarity with SAP and maintenance planning.
Knowledge of Continuous Improvement techniques and environmental awareness.
