The purpose of this role is to support with general facilities services and support with the responsive collection and delivery of equipment to patient's homes.
The post holder will also undertake hands on the duties and responsibilities of the Facilities Assistant, maintaining Mountbatten's premises in the provision of comprehensive maintenance, repair and minor works service, when required.
KEY TASKS
Facilities Tasks:
To carry out small building works, refurbishments, and maintenance such as joinery, painting, and general repairs.
Perform proactive planned preventative maintenance of plant, systems and building fabric related to the hospices requirements and activities.
Perform safety checks on Hospice equipment and enter data in the appropriate logbook (e.g. portable appliance testing subject to qualifications)
Carry out water temperature checks.
Take readings from metering equipment and complete log records as required.
Assist with fire alarm checks and respond on activation of the fire alarm to assist the Fire Marshall (training will be provided).
Carry out regular security checks on all external doors and windows during normal working hours.
Assist with the disposal of waste, including clinical waste (training provided).
Maintain levels of oxygen cylinders and assist with deliveries, storage and replacement.
Assist with room set-up for meetings or training courses, including furniture and equipment relocation, as directed by the Facilities Manager.
Carry out general estates housekeeping duties, including all high-level cleaning, unblocking drains, lighting, lamp cleaning, etc.
Grounds and garden maintenance, including cleaning paths, decking, guttering, fencing and hedge rows, etc.
Snow, ice clearance and gritting as required
Identify any potential problems and bring unresolved matters to the attention of the Facilities Manager.
Community Equipment Tasks
Assist in the Co-ordination and maintaining the 'Just in Time' sub store based at Mountbatten Isle of Wight (24/7 facility), monitoring stock levels and assisting in the collecting of equipment to top up from the Isle of Wight Community Equipment Store regularly.
Assist in deliveries and collections of equipment to patient's home.
Assist in assembling equipment in the patient's homes safely and move furniture where appropriate to enable adequate space for the equipment.
Assist in developing good working relationships with the IW Community Equipment service.
To carry out any tasks requested by the Facilities Manager commensurate with the role.
Other Responsibilities
To carry out any other duties as and when required thought reasonable within the scope of this role.
To take personal responsibility for risk management in own work and undertake to review practices and learn from experience.
To participate in the development, review and audit of quality standards and contribute to the process of continuous quality improvement throughout the Mountbatten.
Implement processes required to meet any changes to Care Quality Commission (CQC) requirements/ recommendations.
To attend relevant meetings across Mountbatten Isle of Wight as required.
To maintain awareness of own nominated roles in any Mountbatten Policies and Procedures.
At all times to behave in a manner befitting the post, ensuring that Mountbatten is positively represented to the public and other stakeholders.
To maintain an appropriate standard of confidentiality.
To carry out such other duties which may reasonably be requested.
Be available for out of hours response where practicable commensurate with the role.
