About Us
AEMR has been delighting families for over 60 years with its charming miniature railway, attracting up to 150,000 visitors a year. In recent years, we have expanded our attractions to include the magical Fairy & Elf Walk and a calendar full of themed events. As part of our Steam Team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring every visitor enjoys a safe, clean, and unforgettable experience.
Roles & Responsibilities
General Site & Facilities Maintenance:
Assist with minor repairs, painting, and basic carpentry and metalwork.
Perform routine checks on site infrastructure, including fences, pathways, and signage, ensuring everything is well-maintained and safe for visitors.
Support the engineering team with basic mechanical and electrical tasks when required.
Work closely with the Site & Facilities Manager on various maintenance projects, ensuring efficient completion of assigned tasks.
Carry out seasonal tasks such as leaf clearance, gritting in winter months, and watering plants in warmer weather.
Support groundskeeping tasks, including lawn mowing, hedge trimming, and general upkeep of the railway surroundings.
Ensure tools and maintenance equipment are stored correctly and report any defects or supply shortages.
Clean Team Role - Maintaining High Hygiene Standards:
Regularly clean and sanitise public areas, including seating, offices, and toilets.
Maintain cleanliness of signage, displays, and high-traffic areas.
Empty rubbish bins and manage waste disposal
Conduct deep cleaning tasks as required.
Perform regular litter picks to maintain a clean, welcoming environment.
Manage cleaning equipment and supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels.
Station Master Role - Station Operations & Management:
Oversee day-to-day station operations, ensuring trains run on schedule.
Maintain station cleanliness, signage, and facilities.
Enforce safety procedures for boarding, disembarking, and crowd control.
Deliver exceptional customer service, answering visitor queries and resolving issues.
Supervise ticketing, ensuring smooth processing and accurate fare collection.
What We're Looking For:
A proactive and adaptable individual who enjoys working in a varied role.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Attention to detail, especially regarding safety and cleanliness standards.
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
A team player with a can-do attitude and willingness to learn.
Experience in cleaning, site maintenance, or railway operations is a plus (but not essential - full training provided!).
