Purpose of the Role
To support the business in the effective and compliant operation of regulated childcare nurseries by ensuring high standards of
facilities management

health & safety
, and
regulatory compliance
.
The Facilities & Compliance Lead plays a critical role in delivering safe, welcoming, and operationally efficient environments for children, staff, and visitors across all Ashbourne Day Nurseries.
Key Objectives
Ensure all nursery environments are compliant with
legal
,
health & safety
, and
internal standards
.
Provide
first and second-line support
for facilities issues, ensuring swift resolution.
Lead and support
compliance administration
processes including contractor onboarding and policy updates.
Collaborate with the wider
Early Years & Operations team
on key projects and business initiatives.
Support with the preparation and opening of
new nursery sites
, working closely with the Facilities Manager.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
Provide excellent
customer service
, acting as first and second-line support for facilities-related queries and issues.
Ensure all nursery settings are safe, compliant, and maintained to a high standard.
Support the
Facilities Manager
on nursery start-up projects to ensure operational readiness.
Administer compliance-related tasks including:
Safer recruitment for contractors
Routine maintenance and H&S checks
Building inspection documentation
Support
marketing and site presentation efforts
to ensure strong "curb appeal" for prospective families and staff.
Maintain and manage the
company's document library
within BrightHR, ensuring documents and policies are up to date and correctly formatted.
Collect, analyse, and report on
performance data
across individual settings and at group level.
Deliver
training and guidance
on internal procedures and best practices related to H&S and compliance.
Coordinate group procurement:
Manage supplier relationships
Oversee orders and deliveries across settings
Maintain regular and accurate communication with internal teams and external suppliers through scheduled updates.
Required Skills & Experience
Facilities Management
Strong understanding of building maintenance, contract oversight, and budgeting
Health & Safety
Knowledge of H&S legislation, risk assessment processes, and emergency planning
Early Years Knowledge
Understanding of the childcare/early years sector is advantageous
Risk Assessment
Confident in identifying and mitigating compliance-related risks
Communication
Excellent verbal and written skills for diverse stakeholder interaction
Organisation
Strong time management skills; able to prioritise and multitask effectively
Collaboration
Team-oriented with ability to work cross-functionally across teams and sites
Desirable Qualifications
IOSH Level 2
NEBOSH Certificate
Facilities Management Professional (FMP) Certification
