As the Facilities Management Assistant, you will be assisting Facilities Management with smooth running day to day operations of the museum as well as occasionally provide hands on assistance with building maintenance. There is real variety to this role and an opportunity to work across all areas of the estate. This role will also include ensuring a welcoming visitor experience while maintaining building safety and security. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of health and safety, emergency procedures as well as Front of House experience ideally from Museum and Heritage Sector.
This is a zero hour role with potential becoming permanent.
Job Requirements
Previous experience in similar role or of providing excellent visitor experience in a front of house role, ideally in a museum, heritage or cultural organisation
Experience of working with diverse audiences
Previous experience of key handling and emergency procedures
Good working knowledge of Health and Safety procedures
First Aid and Fire Marshall certified or willingness to become certified
Level 3 Electrical Qualification (desirable)
Able to stay calm under pressure and in emergency situations
Ability to work with initiative both independently and as part of a team
Experience of working in a retail environment including use of an EPOS system, stock management and sales
Ability to perform manual handling tasks
Coming from Facilities and Building Maintenance background is desirable
Job Responsibilities
Ensure building security and safety in the absence of senior staff.
Oversee opening and closing of the building
Ensure safety, security, and compliance with health and safety procedures.
Lead evacuations and act as first aider when necessary.
Conduct regular health and safety checks.
Meeting with contractors in absence of senior staff
Assisting with administrative tasks
Provide hands-on assistance with building maintenance and facility operations.
Checking timesheets
Creating Rota
Dealing with tenants queries
Meter readings
Willing to work overtime
Supervise and support Visitor Assistants and volunteers, covering Visitor Assistant role if needed
Keep staff and volunteers informed about events and key messages.
Address diverse visitor needs, ensuring positive engagement.
Support smooth operation of tours, events, hires, and learning activities.
Work with volunteers to bring Gunnersbury Park's history to life.
Build relationships to encourage volunteer longevity.
Supervise visitor-facing volunteers.
Support event setup and assist with food hygiene regulations.
Demonstrate flexibility with working hours, including weekends and bank holidays
General knowledge of heating, systems , electrical and mechanical systems

Pay: 14.75 per hour
Education:
A-Level or equivalent (preferred)
