Job description
Our client, a leading company in the automotive industry, is currently seeking a Facility Engineer - BIW to join their team on a contract basis at their site in Solihull.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess feasibility of new facilities and processes, managing projects for cost, quality, and timing.
  • Support by providing the required capability and capacity at client facilities, aligned to programme milestones, launch plans, and production requirements.
  • Complete feasibility and cost evaluations for proposed new or modified facilities and processes, defining robust delivery plans with minimised disruption to operations.
  • Develop engineering solutions suited to the capabilities of appropriate facilities and their associated process characteristics.
  • Develop robust/lean layout solutions to support facility project delivery or process/operational efficiency improvements.
  • Manage contractors in strict accordance with the Control of Contractors procedures.
  • Manage, maintain, and develop all Health, Safety, and Operational Risk Management processes and site-specific processes and systems.
  • Contribute to ongoing Environmental Innovation and Reporting (Energy, Water, Waste) compliance.
  • Coordinate the support and input of all relevant stakeholders to achieve acceptance, buy-off, and successful handover of new or modified facilities.
  • Work closely with Manufacturing and other Engineering disciplines to deliver programmes and facility projects to cost targets and timing.
  • Provide Manufacturing Engineering support to plant personnel for problem-solving and continuous improvement activities regarding Safety, Quality, and Cost.
  • Manage facility documentation in line with Manufacturing Engineering procedures, supporting TS, ISO, SHARP, LQOS, & FPS audits.
  • Lead and partake in multifunctional New Equipment Procurement Teams through all project phases, ensuring adherence to procurement procedures.
  • Track project-based KPIs and report to the departmental manager on a weekly basis.
Job Requirements:
  • Experience in facilities management within the automotive industry, particularly BIW (Body in White).
  • A customer-first mindset, driven to deliver personalised, transparent, and dependable experiences.
  • Results-driven with the ability to deliver operational plans in a highly demanding environment.
  • Strong ability to prioritise workload and communicate complex ideas effectively.
  • Effective team player who supports team members and engages in constructive challenges.
  • Resilient, enthusiastic, and able to deliver results under pressure with a 'can-do' attitude.
  • Sound engineering and manufacturing background with previous experience in facilities development and engineering.
  • Understanding of process conveyor technologies and experience in reliability and maintainability principles.
  • Degree qualified or equivalent engineering experience preferred.
  • Ability to control and manage suppliers (materials and equipment) and project budgets.
  • Working knowledge of lean manufacturing tools and techniques.
  • Flexibility with working hours, including after hours and weekends, to meet objectives and targets.
