the band minimum is the normal starting pay for those new to a role. In exceptional circumstances, when relevant skills and experience can be identified, a higher starting salary may be considered.


We will give full consideration to requests for flexible and part time working, such as reduced hours, compressed hours or job sharing. British Antarctic Survey (BAS) is looking for an exceptional Facilities Manager to join our Estates team. BAS delivers and enables world-leading interdisciplinary research in the Polar Regions. We employ experts from many different professions to carry out our Science as well as keep the lights on, feed the research and support teams and keep everyone safe!

You'll be joining our Estates team stationed at our Polar Distribution Hub in Bar Hill.

You'll help us deliver on our vision of BAS logistical modernisation by supporting the day-to-day facility operations at our new Polar Hub.




You'll be joining a world-leading interdisciplinary research organisation, that is committed to recruiting talented people like you, progressing your career and giving you the support, you need to thrive at BAS.




Some of your main responsibilities will include:






To support the senior managers, FMs/ FEs, PMs and the SCL team in the day-to-day operational, statutory, and servicing requirements to meet the legislative objectives of the BAS Warehousing facility at Bar Hill. Maintain the upkeep our superb building and services. To deliver maintenance/ management and statutory compliance in the built environment. To manage staff and suppliers to programme the planned preventative and reactive maintenance of the facility. To lead and manage the conference facility, support IT and space bookings. Including cleaning, concierge duties and security. To lead, manage and be responsible for the rhythm of occupation to ensure users, visitors, and guests experience excellent services across all areas of FM
