A warm and welcoming family living on a large private estate in East Lothian, seeking an experienced, proactive, and highly organisedFamily Assistant / Family PA to support both our household and day-to-day family administration.
We have two children aged 15 and 10, who are active and increasingly independent, but benefit from consistent, calm support around school routines, homework, activities, and general supervision. Alongside childcare and household support, this role will include
personal assistant and administrative duties
, helping to keep family life running smoothly.
This is a varied, hands-on position suited to someone who enjoys balancing childcare, household organisation, and PA-style responsibilities. The role requires flexibility to accommodate changing schedules and overseas travel, with additional hours, including occasional overnight stays (up to 1 week) required during periods of family travel or busy times.
We also have pets, so a genuine love for animals is essential.
Key Responsibilities
Childcare & Family Support
Provide warm, attentive, and reliable care for two children (ages 15 & 10)
Assist with school routines, including pick-ups and drop-offs (car provided)
Support with homework, school projects, and exam preparation as needed
Coordinate and supervise extracurricular activities and social arrangements
Prepare and cook healthy, nutritious meals for the children
Offer age-appropriate guidance, structure, and supervision in a positive and safe environment
Provide additional care and support during school holidays and periods of parental travel, including occasional overnight care if required
Household Support
Light household assistance related to the children and family life (tidying communal areas, organising school items)
Assist with planning and organising busy family schedules
Occasional pet care, including feeding, walking, and supervision
Liaise with other household staff or contractors as required
PA / Administrative Support
Act as a trusted point of support for day-to-day family administration
Manage appointments, and family schedules
Assist with school communications, forms, and calendar management
Book appointments, activities, travel, and extracurricular arrangements
Handle light correspondence, emails, and phone calls on behalf of the family
Assist with event planning (family occasions, school events, travel preparation)
Anticipate needs and proactively resolve issues before they arise.
Requirements
Full, clean UK driving licence (essential)
Enhanced DBS check, or willingness to obtain one
Previous experience in a similar Mother's Help, Nanny, Family Assistant, or PA role
Strong organisational and administrative skills
Confident using email, calendars, and basic digital tools
A genuine love for animals and comfort around pets
Flexible, adaptable, and calm under pressure
Warm, discreet, and professional approach
Highly reliable, trustworthy, and proactive
Hours & Pay
Approximately
40 hours per week
, with flexibility required to meet family needs
Occasional additional hours during school holidays or periods of travel
Competitive salary, dependent on experience and skill set
