Priory Hospital Chelmsford is looking to recruit a Family Therapist to join the team. This is a part-time/ 30 Hours role.
Situated within three acres of landscaped grounds, Priory Hospital Chelmsford is an independent hospital that specialises in the treatment and management of adults and adolescents with a range of mental health problems. There is a highly experienced team of mental health professionals and support staff, which include consultant psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses and therapists.
The hospital offers calming and recovery focused residential treatment for up to 60 service users, as well as day care and outpatient services, including separate facilities for young people.
What you'll be doing
You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our patients wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future. As a Family Therapist, you will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of patients.Provide therapeutic support and interventions to children, adolescents, and their families to address mental health challenges.
Facilitate family therapy sessions to improve communication, resolve conflicts, and strengthen family relationships.
Collaborate with the multidisciplinary CAMHS team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
Assess family dynamics and identify factors affecting the young person's mental health and wellbeing
Offer guidance and support to families to promote coping strategies and resilience during inpatient treatment.

What you'll bring to the role

A successful family therapist should have a strong foundation in psychological theories and therapeutic techniques specific to family systems, with proven experience working with children, adolescents, and their families in clinical or community settings. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential to build trust, navigate complex family dynamics, and facilitate open dialogue. The ability to assess and understand diverse family structures, cultural backgrounds, and individual needs is crucial for delivering effective and personalized interventions. Experience collaborating within multidisciplinary teams, particularly in mental health environments, enhances holistic care delivery. Additionally, strong problem-solving skills, emotional resilience, and ongoing professional development are important to adapt to the evolving needs of clients and maintain best practices in family therapy.
