Job Introduction

An exciting opportunity has arisen for full-time, permanent Family Group Conference Coordinators to join the busy Solihull Accredited Family Group Conferencing (FGC) and Lifelong Links team at this exciting time of expansion and investment into our service.


Solihull's Family Group Conference service works in partnership with families, who are facing difficult situations and/or decisions that need addressing, regarding the wellbeing and care of their children and young people.


This is a really great time to join us as we seek to embrace and fully implement the national reforms - Families First Partnership Programme and including embedding Family Led Decision Making in our work.


As a Family Group Conferencing Co-ordinator you will work with families, helping them to identify their networks and the support they can offer. You will use your knowledge of working with families, mediation and facilitation skills, building good relationships with the children and young people, ensuring their voice is heard.


We are interested in hearing from applicants with experience of delivering family led decision making, working alongside and building relationships with children, young people and their families, using evidence based and restorative approaches in a variety of settings.


You will also need to demonstrate:

Professional qualification (degree level or equivalent) in a relevant field e.g. Social work, youth work, childcare, education or child health Experience of working with children and their families from a wide range of backgrounds, including families in crisis. Knowledge and understanding of the principles and processes of Family Group Conferencing Experience of multi-agency working and sharing expertise to achieve best outcomes for children and young people. Experience in facilitating and chairing meetings and managing conflict. A clear understanding and experience of Family Group Conferencing, application of legislation and key associated principles. A passion about involving children and their families to make key decisions and safe plans for their child's welfare. A driving licence and have access to a vehicle (reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled applicants where required).
