We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Family Solicitor (1-3 years PQE) to join our Family Legal Aid department. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified solicitor with a strong interest in publicly funded family law, including care proceedings, domestic abuse, and private law children matters.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage a caseload of Legal Aid family law matters, including:
Public law children matters (care proceedings)
Private law children disputes
Domestic abuse injunctions (non-molestation and occupation orders)
Provide clear, empathetic advice to vulnerable clients.
Prepare cases for court, draft legal documents, and represent clients at hearings.
Attend interviews, conferences, and court as required.
Ensure full Legal Aid compliance and case billing.
Maintain high-quality client care and professional service at all times.
Collaborate with support staff and contribute to departmental targets.
Requirements:
1-3 years PQE in family law, ideally within a Legal Aid setting.
Sound knowledge of the Legal Aid Agency (LAA) rules and procedures.
Experience conducting own advocacy is desirable.
Strong communication, case management, and organisational skills.
Ability to manage a varied and sometimes urgent caseload.
Panel membership (Children or Family) is desirable but not essential.
A genuine commitment to supporting vulnerable clients.
Preferred Experience With Software:
Case Management Systems such as LEAP
Legal Aid Agency (LAA) CCMS portal for funding applications and billing
DocuSign or similar for digital document execution
Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
