About the Role



As a Family Solicitor/Legal Executive, you will provide a high-quality legal service to the firm's clients across all areas of family law. You will manage your own caseload with minimal supervision, ensure compliance with professional and regulatory obligations, and contribute to the ongoing development of the department and the wider firm.

Key Responsibilities



Deliver high-quality legal advice and representation in all aspects of family law, including divorce, financial remedies, children matters, cohabitation disputes, domestic abuse, and pre/post-nuptial agreements. Manage your own caseload and assist other fee-earners and partners as needed. Work in accordance with the firm's policies, procedures, and quality standards as outlined in the staff handbook. Build and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues and contribute to a positive team environment. Ensure clients are kept informed regularly on case progress and costs, delivering a timely and client-focused service. Meet agreed billing and time recording targets. Take overall responsibility for credit control and financial management on your own matters. Develop and maintain strong client relationships, demonstrating empathy, discretion, and professionalism. Ensure ongoing compliance with the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Code of Conduct and all other relevant regulatory requirements. Maintain a record of continuing professional development (CPD) and stay up to date with changes in the law and practice. Follow the firm's internal systems including case management, file audits, and client due diligence requirements. Share knowledge, best practice, and legal updates with colleagues.

About You



Qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive with 3+ years experience in family law. Able to manage a varied caseload independently with minimal supervision. Strong working knowledge of relevant family law legislation, case law, and court procedures. Awareness and understanding of the SRA Code of Conduct and other regulatory requirements. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain complex legal matters clearly. Strong IT skills, including the use of case management systems, and ability to operate without secretarial support if required. Commercial and financial awareness, with a sound understanding of billing, budgeting and credit control. Ability to build rapport with clients and manage client expectations effectively. Strong time management and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines. Demonstrated ability to contribute to business development through marketing, networking, and client relationship management. Experience of mentoring or supervising junior staff (desirable, not essential).
