Would you like to be involved in this unique opportunity to support families in our Caban Bach Family Support Service?

We are looking to recruit a Family Support Worker at the Caban Bach Service, Barnardo\'s Cymru North Wales Locality predominantly working in Dolgellau, Gwynedd.

What is the Caban Bach Family Support Service?

Caban Bach Family Support Service is a comprehensive Family Support Team, commissioned by Flying Start and Families First in Gwynedd. We provide evidenced based family support to parents, families with children and young people - within the home, school, community, and Caban Bach Barnardo`s.

What does the Job Role involve?

The Flying Start Family Support Worker provides advice, support and services to children, young people, and their families in accordance with the aims and objectives of the service. You will do this by:

  • Working with families, on a one to one or group basis, using a variety of interventions, to identify needs and to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Working in partnership with parents/carers to empower them and to enable them to achieve better outcomes for their children.
  • Working co-operatively with children\'s services, health agencies and other community-based services, to provide the most effective service for children young people and families.
  • Contribute to Service development.
  • Apply safeguarding and child protection procedures.
What are we looking for?

You will have: (Essential Criteria)
  • The ability to communicate in Welsh and English (due to meeting the requirements of the Welsh Language Measure and ensuring we meet the linguistic needs within Gwynedd it is essential that you\'re able to provide a bilingual service).
  • Awareness of factors impacting on and issues facing vulnerable children and young people and families (e.g. disadvantage, poverty, disability).
  • Awareness of children\'s need to feel safe.
  • Some experience of work with families but this does not have to have been gained in a formal employment setting.
  • Able to listen to and communicate effectively with children and families
  • Able to work as part of a team.
  • Able to accurately and clearly record case notes deploying the necessary standard of writing and IT skills.
  • Able to apply Barnardo\'s safeguarding and child protection procedures.
