We are looking for a reliable family support worker to join our highly focused, dynamic, talented and supportive team.

The role will be based at Horizons Academy which is due to open to pupils in January 2026.

Be part of Horizons Academy, a brand new, state of the art special school opening in January 2026 in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. The purpose-built academy will meet the needs of children and young people from key stage 2 to 5 with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), along with autism spectrum conditions (ASC). The academy will accommodate 160 pupils aged 7 to 19.

The successful candidate will:



Develop good relationships with parents/carers of children at the school and encourage parental involvement in the school and its activities.


Be proactive and inclusive in identifying needs, and support children and families with information, advice and guidance.


Investigate concerns raised by parents, pupils and teachers as agreed by and in consultation with the Principal.


Provide administration support relating to Safeguarding and SEND.


Hold the post of a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead.


Provide support and/or facilitate counselling, one to one or small groups, for those children identified with the greatest need that is adversely affecting their learning.


Liaise with outside agencies as appropriate being an ambassador for our children, our academy and our community.
