Farm Estate Worker
is a hands-on role, assisting the Glenlyon team with the day-to-day operations of the farm, and throughout the vast estate. This is an extremely varied role, and your motivation and can-do attitude will lead you to being involved in a wide range of duties across many functions, from agricultural work and caring for livestock through to estate maintenance.

This important guest-facing role will help create exceptional times for our members and their guests. You will take huge pride in talking about the farm and the estate which is set in breathtaking scenery; steep tree-covered hillsides, craggy mountains, and the meandering River Lyon. Being enthusiastic about the beauty is easy, you should also have an enthusiastic and people-centric collaborative team-working approach.
Working with the farm team to tenderly care for our herd of one-hundred and fifty red deer, our flock of five hundred cheviot cross sheep and our small fold of highland cattle. We have also recently introduced a herd of belties and have a few pigs too.
Throughout the estate you will support the team in preserving, maintaining, and enhancing the estates natural landscape, the gardens and buildings which include tree care, planting, and grounds maintenance, fencing and gardening. While playing a key part in supporting with the hosting of guests.
Helping with feeding, watering, and caring of livestock and poultry. Loading and unloading and storing feed, equipment and produce. Operating farm machinery and equipment.
You will support with the general maintenance of estate grounds, gardens, and buildings. Planting, cultivating, and harvesting the produce. Ensuring the upkeep of the gardens through maintenance. Garden structures, such as fences, trellises, and composting. Supporting the estate team with hard and soft landscaping projects including preparation of ground, paving, simple construction and grubbing out, planting trees/shrubs and other general landscaping operations alongside mowing, trimming, and clearing overgrown areas. Assist with pruning, trimming, and shaping of trees to promote healthy growth and maintain desired aesthetics as agreed with the forestry technicians.
You support with the inventory of tools, machinery and equipment used on the estate ensuring they are in good condition, maintained, serviced, and used in accordance with safety protocols with parts or replacements ordered as required; faults, defects, risks, and hazards reported.
Responsible for adhering to a safe working environment and culture by complying with health and safety, and other compliance requirements in the farm, gardens and estate areas including use of personal protective equipment, tools, machinery, fertilisers, chemicals and safe working practices to protect health, safety and welfare of all team members, members and visitors.
Observing workplace policies ensuring all waste is managed correctly and in line with regulations. Undertaking continuous professional development in line with current and changing requirements and driving personal development.
You have a pleasant and welcoming manner. With the ability to work outside in all weather conditions with the ability to perform physical tasks. Actively demonstrating a willingness to support and achieve business objectives across the Glenlyon and Taymouth Estates.

In this role you will benefit from previous experience in agricultural and landscaping services, either in a similar role or estate environment. A genuine interest in the natural environment, sustainability, and conservation with a basic knowledge of using tools and maintenance. You will be a natural organiser with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, used to hosting professional events with a warm and welcoming manner.
You take huge pride in your personal presentation and have good physical fitness and a willingness to work outdoors in all conditions. Physical exertion as well as working at heights in challenging terrain. Comfortable working alone or as part of a small team with the ability to work at various locations and in all weathers.
A valid UK Driving license is essential. General knowledge of regulations applicable to farm and estate work, including health and safety and COSHH requirements. Private estate experience in deer stalking or fishing guidance providing personalised experiences and creating authentic connections with members would be a distinct advantage.
Well organised with the understanding of needing to be agile and adapt accordingly to suit the profile of the business and varied nature of the role. Including the ability to adjust working days and hours of work to meet business needs, as and when required and during emergencies or busy seasons. Always courteous with a pleasant manner helping to create exceptional and memorable visits to our estate for our members, guests, and visitors.
