OVERVIEW

Skea Egg Farms Ltd is a significant player in the agri-food sector supplying eggs to major retailers in Northern Ireland and mainland UK. We are currently advertising (both internally and externally) the following full time permanent position based at Skea:

FARM LIAISON OFFICER

POSITION PURPOSE:

To oversee farm supply base to ensure the company's suppliers are compliant with company policies, food safety standards and government regulations and are supplying the company with a reliable service of safe, legal, and quality eggs

KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Communicate with, monitor, and advise egg suppliers on hen production.

Liaise closely with producers when housing new birds, to ensure the best start, following through flocks to peak production.

Internally audit and prepare farms for external audits, e.g., RSPCA Assured, BEIC and OF&G to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations

Develop external relationships with appropriate contacts, e.g., external auditing bodies, pullet rearer and vets to ensure the timely execution of external audits and to resolve veterinary issues

Conduct various administration duties to include the accurate recording of farm certification, e.g., RSPCA Assured and ensuring certificates are kept up to date

Review bird health and welfare and organise necessary interventions within agreed procedures to make improvements where necessary

Maintain rapport with egg/pullet suppliers to achieve sustainable relationships

Maintain confidentiality within each business relationship with egg suppliers

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Full clean driving licence Excellent communication skills Good knowledge of bird management skills Good awareness of bird welfare requirements Excellent team member Hard working Punctual & reliable

DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS:

Good experience of poultry production systems
Hours: 8.30am - 5.00pm Monday - Friday (depending on the needs of the business)
