Our dedicated farm animal department provides round-the-clock veterinary support to farming businesses across North Yorkshire. The Role: We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised receptionist to join our Farm Animal Department. This is a varied and rewarding role at the centre of our operations, supporting a busy team of ambulatory vets and technicians who often work under challenging conditions in the field.

The role involves far more than answering calls. You will be responsible for prioritising visits, fitting in pre-planned appointments alongside urgent requests, and reassessing the daily plan as the situation evolves. At the same time, you will manage a range of ongoing administrative tasks, ensuring important deadlines are met and the team can rely on you to keep things running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities: Handling incoming calls from clients, providing a professional, friendly first point of contact.

Prioritising and coordinating farm visits, balancing pre-booked appointments with urgent requests.

Liaising with the ambulatory vet team throughout the day, adapting plans as needed.

Managing ongoing administrative tasks, including: vaccine reminders and client health reporting.

Student placement bookings, including email communication, long-term diary planning, and acting as a point of contact during placements.

Supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the farm department, ensuring tasks are completed in a timely manner despite frequent interruptions.

About You: The ideal candidate will be:

Organised and resilient - able to remain calm, prioritise effectively, and make sound decisions under pressure.

A natural finisher - committed to seeing tasks through to completion, even when the day is busy and full of interruptions.

Friendly and approachable - with excellent communication skills and a caring manner when supporting clients and colleagues.

A true team player - keen to help the department run efficiently while recognising the challenges faced by vets and technicians working remotely.

Experience in a veterinary, farming, or healthcare environment would be helpful, but is not essential as full training will be provided.
