Farmshop General Manager

Salary - 40k + potential to earn KPI bonus + 50 weekly food/meat allowance

Hours - 43 per week

Job Overview

To provide overall leadership and management of the farm shop operations, overseeing the Butchery and Shop Managers to ensure high standards of customer service, product quality, and operational efficiency. This role is responsible for the smooth coordination of all departments, strategic planning, and achieving business objectives including ambitious growth targets in sales, gross margin, and customer experience.

This is a hands-on leadership role, reporting directly to the Directors, with responsibility for shaping the farm shop's future success.

Responsibilities

Leading and motivating the team in line with company culture and standards. Driving sales growth to achieve weekly targets of 30k+. Ensuring gross margins exceed 45% and labour costs remain under 20% of revenue. Delivering exceptional customer experience, making us the number one destination for fine meat and cheese in Cirencester and the surrounding area. Managing budgets, stock, compliance, and operational efficiency across departments.

Experience

Proven experience in retail, hospitality, or food operations management (farm shop, deli, butchery, supermarket, or similar environment). Strong track record of delivering sales growth, profit targets, and cost control (ideally with experience managing gross margin and labour budgets). Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team. Experience managing multi-department operations and coordinating across functions. A passion for high-quality food, particularly fine meats, cheeses, and local produce. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage operations 7 days a week. Customer-focused mindset, with the drive to build a destination retail experience.
