What you'll be doing
Working within an international team to develop to Future through life engineering solutions, providing thought leadership and direction in a complex, high pace programme
Leading the engagement with Customer and Industry SMEs to elicit, understand and capture user and system requirements for FCAS Through-Life Engineering
Developing concepts and philosophies for how through-life engineering will be implemented, managed and delivered end-to-end for FCAS
Developing specifications during the design & development phase of the programme, and then overseeing implementation and mobilisation during the transition to in-service phase
Ensuring that the through-life engineering design meets regulatory requirements (e.g. Military Aviation Authority design organisation regulations)
Ensuring integration of the through-life engineering with other product and service development areas on the programme, such as ensuring the requirements for IT, digital and physical infrastructure, as well as interfaces with the air platform itself, are elicited and communicated
Producing strategies & plans throughout the lifecycle for the development and implementation of the through-life engineering solution
Planning and co-ordinating team tasking for a small team, leading the inputs to planning sessions and reviews, and contributing to schedules of work around service design deliverables
Your skills and experiences
Essentials:
HND Level 5 or Degree level qualification (or equivalent professional experience) in relevant STEM subject (Engineering/Maths/Science/IT)
Experience in providing through-life engineering support or through-life engineering modification/upgrade services
Experience in service design, service transition/implementation, or service delivery (preferably in a military or aerospace environment)
Knowledge of through-life responsibilities of a Design Organisation and how these can be delivered under a service arrangement
Desirable:
Experience in any of the following disciplines of through-life engineering:
Product Integrity Management, Modifications & Upgrades, Obsolescence Management, Technical Support/In-Service Support, Product or Support Optimisation, Through-Life/Continued Airworthiness, Technical Information Management
Awareness of the PAS-280 Through-Life Engineering Services framework
Knowledge of MAA 5000-series regulations and the through-life responsibilities of Design Approved Organisation Scheme (DAOS) approval holders
Experience with any of the following
UK MOD Knowledge in Defence (KiD), Support Solution Envelope 21 (SSE21), Integrated Logistics Support (Def-Stan 00-600), ASD/AIA S-Series Integrated Product Support Specifications
Knowledge of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) approaches and tools (e.g. MooD or CAMEO, SysML, MagicGrid).

The Through Life Support Team
Join the pioneering Through Life Support team at the forefront of the Future Combat Air System (FCAS) programme. This team is shaping next-generation engineering support solutions that will sustain and upgrade advanced combat air capabilities throughout their lifecycle.
Working closely with customers and suppliers, the team defines requirements and develops future-focused engineering services to ensure a seamless transition from design and development through to in-service support. Their work spans a wide range of critical areas, including technical information management, modifications and upgrades, product and service optimisation, regulatory and integrity management, obsolescence planning, and through-life airworthiness.
