Activate Learning has an exciting opportunity available for a passionate and creative Furniture Teacher to join our team based at City of Oxford College campus.
The role will deliver with particular focus on our Level 1, 2 & 3 Diploma Furniture qualifications, but may also include other timetabled sessions. This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher with passion and drive who is committed to enabling our students to unlock their potential, develop their attributes and become lifelong learners.
The role is also open to applicants who may not have prior teaching experience but want to pursue a career with opportunities to train and develop.
You will work collaboratively with our existing team of talented and passionate teachers and VT's to ensure we plan and deliver purposeful practical and theory lessons. Our students are eager to learn and we want to appoint someone who can provide them with a high level of industry based knowledge and skills, that they can utilise in their careers or progression to work or higher level studies.
Activate Learning has an excellent record of delivering vocational courses with employability embedded at their heart. This is achieved through excellent relationships with industry and the employment of experts with extensive professional experience within the teaching team.
This is a permanent, full-time role working 37 hours per week at our City of Oxford College Campus.
What do you need to be a successful Furniture Teacher at Activate Learning?
Successful candidates will have an appropriate professional qualification or degree in a relevant subject area and/or extensive industry knowledge. Desirable specialisms include Hand tool skills, machinery use and maintenance, veneering, technical drawing by hand, power tool use and finishing techniques.
Ideally you will have recent teaching experience in a Further Education Environment and a PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification, though we would consider applications from unqualified applicants with the ability to inspire our learners and a willingness to complete a teaching qualification. Unqualified candidates would start at a lower salary point and this could be discussed at interview, if successfully shortlisted.

Your communication and interpersonal skills will be outstanding and support your ability to deliver interesting and purposeful lessons to a diverse range of learners, ensuring that students leave us with not just their professional qualifications, but the attributes required to progress in the world of work. You will also have strong organisation skills coupled with the ability to prioritise workloads.
