Position Required

: experienced complex care personal assistants (Part-Time and Full-time) opportunities available. Providing 2:1 care and support.

Location:

Rotherham, South Yorkshire

Client:

female child - aged 10 years.

Essential requirements:



Experience in supporting children or young adults with complex care and medical needs (minimum of 1 year), knowledge/experience of suctioning, epilepsy management, PEG feeding, medication administration and are confident in delivering personal cares and undertaking manual handling.

Experienced driver as clients has a WAV for daily use.

Confident swimmer - to support client using hydrotherapy pool

Working as part of a team to deliver care, follow and deliver therapy and sensory programmes.

Excellent communication, skills written and interpersonal skills.

Preference for a non-smoker/vaper.

Days & Hours:

Up to 36 hours per week available and includes weekends, nights and Bank Holidays. Shift times: 8.00am - 8.00pm and 8.00pm - 8.00am. Bank contracts are also available.

Family/Client Pets

: Yes, two friendly dogs and a cat.

Place of work:

Ourclient's home, is fully adapted with including a hydrotherapy pool and therapy room, with her living accommodation being connected to the family home. She lives with her mother and older brother.

Staff accommodation:

There is a kitchen/lounge and separate bathroom and shower area for use whilst on duty.

About our client:



Condition and level of support

:

Our client has an acquired brain injury, Cerebral Palsy

(GMFCS Level 5)

she has limited understanding and cognition, and this is significantly reduced for her chronological age. She is non-verbal and registered blind. She has specialist seating and equipment to manage her postural needs and mobility. Assistance is required for all activities of daily living including personal cares, feeding, mobility and transfers. Use of specialist equipment forms part of her daily routine

Our client requires suctioning (oral), nebulisers, and has a gastrostomy in situ for all nutrition, fluids and medication, she uses a wheelchair and standing frame daily. Due to her care needs she has 2:1 support, 24 hours a day 7 days a week to ensure all her health, care and medical needs are met.

Communication:

She can show her likes and dislikes through her facial expressions and body position. She can communicate discomfort/pain by crying, shouting, facial expressions or her body movements. She is a can develop relationships with trusted people.

Further information:



You will joining an established dedicated team, to deliver and manage all areas of our client's activities of daily living, health, care and medical needs. As well as working within the family home you will be expected to take our client in the community and attend community-based activities as well as support her on holidays in the UK.

Birchwood & Co Case management mandatory training will be provided; however you must have previous experience in complex medical care of a minimum of 1 year. You will work in collaboration with our client's family, therapy team and other healthcare professionals to ensure she is thriving and provided with every opportunity to learn, and live life to the full.

This role involves working days, waking nights and weekends (although you will not be expected to work every weekend). A staff rota is provided a minimum of 4 weeks in advance. The package is unable to offer set shifts, however this may be considered in exceptional circumstances if it does not compromise staffing levels and impact on care delivery. Overtime is available.

For this role you will need to be enthusiastic and have a willingness to learn, you need to be reliable, caring and innovative and work as part of a team as this is essential to the role. You will be expected to have excellent communication and organisational skills and maintaining daily care records is an essential aspect of the role. This role will give you the opportunity to make a difference to our client and her family and in return you will receive excellent training, ongoing support and supervision, and be part of a professional, highly skilled team.
