Who you'll be supporting & more about the role:
Are you seeking a job that is rewarding and offers variety?
Do you enjoy working with people and want to make a real difference?
We are currently recruiting for a
Female
Support Worker for
25 hours per week
in the
Govan
area of Glasgow.
Due to the needs of the people supported, a full UK driving licence is essential for this role (must be able to drive a manual vehicle)
You will be required to work in a flexible and person-centred manner that meets the needs and preferences of the people we support, enabling them to live the life they choose.
This role is supporting 2 individuals who share their home. The people we support have faced a lot of challenges in the past because of their learning disabilities and physical health issues, but this hasn't stopped them from enjoying life! Both individuals that we support are non-verbal, but can communicate using other methods. The people we support enjoy lots of different activities, including going out in the car, shopping, swimming, musicals, dancing and enjoying their local area.
It's essential that the successful person is comfortable supporting people to go swimming. You don't need to be a great swimmer, but just be comfortable providing support in the water.
Our support team are very diverse and work well together to ensure the people we support are happy and safe in their own homes. This can include:
Supporting them with medication
Cooking
Assisting with personal care
Supporting with moving and positioning and attending hospital appointments
Maintaining the homes of people supported and managing their finances
Our team provide support 24 hours a day, so we are looking for some flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including some weekends and sleepovers. Shift patterns are 7.30am - 7.30pm and 7.30pm-10.30pm with a sleepover.
Sometimes the people we support really need a male or female person to support them. For this particular role, a female colleague is required. This is a genuine occupational requirement as defined by the Equality Act 2010
