Background to the project
Willowdene has offered residential rehabilitation programmes for over 30 years, and from 2010 has specialised in provision for women by running the only alternative to custody programme for women in the country. Women complete programmes lasting 12 weeks duration instead of a term of imprisonment, as well as within the terms of community-based sentences, prison release licences, or as a diversion from the criminal justice system. Programmes are also available to substance misuse agencies for women with presenting substance misuse issues. Intervention is founded on a trauma-informed and focused approach to address the root causes of offending, alongside a holistic bespoke care and recovery plan to address each woman's needs. Women also complete qualifications across a range of vocational areas and participate in a positive daily routine.
Aim:
Willowdene
is recruiting a full-time female Women's Centre residential worker (part-time hours considered) to work with women who are completing our residential programme. Residential workers will be based at Willowdene, working flexible shifts including weekends and overnight stays and participating in a staff team approach to supporting women to make lasting changes to their lives.
Purpose of the role:
To support people using our services progress on their recovery journey.
To assist with the safe and successful daily running of the service.
To work as part of a team towards agreed service/contract targets.
Key Tasks:
Build excellent professional pro-social relationships with referred women by completing a full assessment in a trauma-informed way and supporting women to fulfil its aims.
Support and promote needs in relation to protected characteristics.
Develop domestic management, finance management and tenancy skills with people using the service.
Support people using services in the development of emotional management skills, personal and life skills.
Participate in the weekly rota system and provide on call duties overnight and at the weekends to people using services.
Accurately maintain all recording systems - paper based and computerised -ensuring compliance with Willowdene procedures.
Provide regular reports as required.
Promote a safe and supportive environment via interaction with residents and maintenance of house rules and procedures.
Work as a team with other staff, and communicate effectively with each other
Administer medication at designated times as prescribed, recording administration using an electronic MAR recording system.
Communicate with the Senior Residential Practitioners verbally and in writing about residents' progress and behaviour and developments with residents.
To ensure that the day to day running of the residential setting is maintained at the highest possible standard (e.g. standards of living, hygiene of the environment and security).
Comply with Willowdene's Health & Safety policies and procedures.
Pro-social model and complete domestic duties such as cleaning specific areas, making beds, ordering supplies.
Maintain confidentiality in communicating personal matters to other staff.
Follow all organisational procedures, for example in relation to: health and safety, safeguarding, missing persons, first aid, accident and incident, medication, whistleblowing.
Participate in regular support and supervision from line management, including preparation for supervision and appraisals.
Attend and participate in regular staff meetings as required.
Keep up to date with organisational developments.
Continuously developing professional knowledge and expertise, attending mandatory training and other appropriate training or development events as and when required.
Keep abreast of developments in services, legislation and practice relevant to the residential service.
Carry out such other duties as may be reasonably required by the Residential Manager.

Person Specification (Knowledge, Experience, Skills & Attributes, Circumstances)
Knowledge/Experience
Experience of working within social care/criminal justice/substance misuse or another comparable field.
Knowledge of trauma-informed approaches.
NVQ 2/3 in Health & Social Care (or a commitment to complete with first year of employment).
Knowledge of criminal justice, alcohol/drug and health related issues.
Understanding and commitment to the principles of confidentiality.
Knowledge and commitment to equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practice.
Good IT skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Skills and Attributes
Ability to work responsibly and flexibly - working in a rota pattern, including evening and weekends.
Ability to write client records, reports and fulfil data requirements.

Circumstances
Evidence of low level of health-related absenteeism
Absence of an alcohol or drug dependency for a least two years.
No criminal record that prevents work with our client group or which would impact on ability to perform in the role or harm our reputation.
Conform to standards of dress, which reflects a professional service.
Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle essential (no more than 6 points)
